Set up Alert Trigger

The Alert action triggers the display of a custom message window.

You can create a static message or set up an expression to return a message value dynamically at run time using the Evaluate feature. For example, you can create an expression to display a message that shows the current patient's name, a field entry, or a true (1) or false (0) value.

  1. Follow the applicable steps in General Trigger Setup.
  2. To open the Alert window, select the Alert action.

  3. In the Caption box, enter the title you want to appear on the message window.
  4. To create a static message, enter the fixed message text in the Text box.
  5. To create a dynamic message, select the Evaluate check box.
    1. Enter any fixed message text and an expression to return the message value and do one of the following:
      • Enter the text and expression directly in the Text box.
      • To display the Assign Field Value window, select the ellipsis corresponding to the Evaluate check box.
    2. To return to the Alert window, enter the , and then select OK .
      The Value Calculation is automatically entered in the Text box.
  6. Select Script It.
    The Script Clipboard window displays with the script of the label.
  7. To copy the script to clipboard, select Copy to Clipboard.
  8. To return to the Trigger Info window, in the Alert window, select OK.
  9. If necessary, set up a specific condition for the Alert action to be triggered.
  10. Select OK and save your template.
