NextGen Time Zone Support

The NextGen® Enterprise applications can include the time zone when displaying times that apply to patient care, such as encounter date/time and charge date/time. When the time zone feature is activated, the time zone that the applications display reflects the time zone of the computer on which the data was recorded. This is true even when the database server is located in a different time zone. NextGen Healthcare accomplishes this by deriving the local time for each computer from the database time in conjunction with the time zone on the local system. Records are stored in the database with a time stamp that reflects the time for the database server, yet when those records are accessed and displayed, they reflect the time at which the record was recorded from the local computer. When multiple time zone support is enabled in the NextGen® Enterprise applications, the current time zone displays in the time panel in the application's main screen status bar. Viewing Encounters by Date or Number

The General tab under Encounters in the patient's chart lists all encounters for the patient in the Encounters section. Depending on the Encounter List Default Display settings in Chart tab under General User Preferences tab, you can view the encounters using any of the following options: Encounter Date Lists the encounters by date. You can select the Encounter Date check box to display encounters by number. Encounter Number Lists the encounters by number. You can select the Encounter Number check box to display encounters by number. Both Lists the encounter by number and date. Select both the Encounter Number and Encounter Date check boxes lists the encounter by number and date. Note: At least one check box must be selected by default. Create Encounters

You can create an encounter using the default current date or you can select an earlier date. You cannot create an encounter with a future date. Open NextGen® Mobile. On the menu bar, select Schedule. The Schedules window opens. Select the patient. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Encounter field. The Patient Encounters window opens. To select a different date for the encounter, do the following: Select the Create Encounter field. The date selection view appears. Select the desired date. Select Done. The Patient Encounters window displays the selected date. To create an encounter, select Create Encounter. The Patient Chart window opens with the current date in the Encounter Date field.
