AGE Function

Use: Displays the age of the currently selected patient in the specified format as of the selected date. Syntax: {AGE( «format» , «date» )} Arguments: «format» (optional) "YMWD" (any combination of Years, Months, Weeks, Days) Note: Enclose the format parameter in double quotes. If you enter only the format without a date, do not include the comma after it. «date» (optional) Date to calculate against the date of birth (for example, encounter date, current date). The date can be any end date greater than the patient's date of birth. Format: YYYYMMDD Note: If the date is a hard-coded string, enclose it in double quotes. If no format or date is specified, the default format is: YMD and today’s date. NextGen Time Zone Support

The NextGen® Enterprise applications can include the time zone when displaying times that apply to patient care, such as encounter date/time and charge date/time. When the time zone feature is activated, the time zone that the applications display reflects the time zone of the computer on which the data was recorded. This is true even when the database server is located in a different time zone. NextGen Healthcare accomplishes this by deriving the local time for each computer from the database time in conjunction with the time zone on the local system. Records are stored in the database with a time stamp that reflects the time for the database server, yet when those records are accessed and displayed, they reflect the time at which the record was recorded from the local computer. When multiple time zone support is enabled in the NextGen® Enterprise applications, the current time zone displays in the time panel in the application's main screen status bar. Template Time Calculations

The template time calculations contain the following definitions and logic: Definitions: Date - Template "Date" data type; Example: 01/01/05 Timespan - Template "Time" data type; Example: "10 years 5 months 2 week 2 days" Supported Time Calculations: Date(new) - Date(old) = Timespan Date + Timespan = Date Timespan + Date = Date Date - Timespan = Date Date - Date(blank) = Timespan(blank) Date(blank) - Date = Timespan(blank) Note: Template Time Calculations resulting in a date are rounded to the last day of a month if needed: - Date + Timespan = Date - Timespan + Date = Date - Date - Timespan = Date For example: "3/31/YYYY - 1 month" where YYYY is a year, results either to 2/28/YYYY or 2/29/YYYY if it is a leap year. Viewing Encounters by Date or Number

The General tab under Encounters in the patient's chart lists all encounters for the patient in the Encounters section. Depending on the Encounter List Default Display settings in Chart tab under General User Preferences tab, you can view the encounters using any of the following options: Encounter Date Lists the encounters by date. You can select the Encounter Date check box to display encounters by number. Encounter Number Lists the encounters by number. You can select the Encounter Number check box to display encounters by number. Both Lists the encounter by number and date. Select both the Encounter Number and Encounter Date check boxes lists the encounter by number and date. Note: At least one check box must be selected by default.
