Send Bypassed C-CDA and HL7 Documents to the Provider Approval Queue

The Interoperability Rules Engine enables you to create rules that exclude selected types of C-CDA or HL7 documents from the PAQ. If you decide that a sign-off is needed for a document that bypassed the PAQ, you can manually send the document to the PAQ in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open a patient chart. Select the Categories tab. To view a bypassed document, do one of the following: Select List View from the list. Select Tree View from the list. To expand all categories; select a category, select Category Options , and select Expand All Categories. To expand the selected category, select . Select a C-CDA, or HL7 bypassed document, and select document options . The document options appear. Note: The bypassed C-CDA, or HL7 documents does not have any PAQ icons. If the document is sent to PAQ, the document options does not display the Send to Provider Approval Queue option. Select Send to Provider Approval Queue. A message appears confirming the action. Some items that appear in the Provider Approval Queue (PAQ) may not need any action from the provider. An example is the metadata items that are sent by certain hospitals. To save providers from reviewing such items, an administrator can create rules allowing selected types of messages to bypass the PAQ. Using the Interoperability Rules Engine, an administrator can exclude messages from the PAQ based on the message format (CDA or HL7®), source, document format, or document description. If a rule allows an item to bypass the PAQ, the item still appears in the patient chart in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. If you do not want an item to bypass the PAQ, you can hover over an item, and select Document Options button, on the Categories tab, and then select Send to Provider Approval Queue to send the item to the PAQ manually. As a provider or delegate, you can access the PAQ from the Workflow module. Note: A patient Inclusion or Exclusion List may restrict your access to PAQ items. If you are a workflow delegate for another user or provider, you may not be able to access the same PAQ items as that person. If you do not have access to a patient, the Restricted message appears under the Patient and Description columns. Signoff Patient Document

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR you can sign off (accept) each patient document. If the Provider Approval Queue (PAQ) is enabled, you can sign off the document either in the PAQ or directly in the Documents module. When a document is accepted in one location, it is automatically listed as accepted in the other location. If the PAQ is not enabled, you can only sign off the documents in the Documents module.
