Open the Data Share Module

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and open a patient. The Quick Buttons panel, the Encounter History and Categories panel opens. left toolbar and Encounter History panel To conserve screen space, select the collapse icon. The Encounter History and Categories panel closes. On the Quick Buttons panel, select the Data Share icon. Data Share The Data Share tab opens in the main pane. Data Share Module Note: If you disabled the Data Share > Use New Data Share Module Universal Preference in System Administrator, then the old version of the Data Share module opens. The old version provides access only to NextGen® Share Carequality Service. Using the Data Share Module to Import and Export Clinical Data

You can use the Data Share module, a feature of NextGen® Enterprise EHR, to import and export Continuity of Care Document (CCD) and Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (C-CDA) files to and from designated folders and exchange clinical information with other providers, patients, and institutions such as regional health information organizations (RHIOs) and the Health Information Systems Program (HISP). This Data Share module serves the same function as the Medical Summary Utility but provides a simpler user interface and superior performance. The Medical Summary Utility continues to be available, but its use is deprecated. An earlier version of the Data Share module provided access only to the NextGen® Share Carequality Service. The old version is still available for the convenience of existing users. Viewing the History and Updating Documents

To see the results of previous searches or exports, you can use the Home tab in the Data Share module. Data Share Module Home Tab View the Search History You can view the history of your searches in the Data Share module by using the Search History pane on the Home tab. Data Share Module Log Files

The the Data Share module maintains a log of related events and archives the log file whenever the file size reaches 2 MB. As all files are encrypted, you must view them using the Log Viewer in the Data Share module . The current log file is named EhrNextGen.log. The log file path is \NextGen\LogFiles on the drive where the Data Share module is opened, for example, C:\NextGen\LogFiles. If the folder does not exist, it is automatically created. View Data Share Module Log Files You can use the Log Viewer in the Data Share module to help with troubleshooting issues. Search Log Files You can search the Data Share module log files to find specific information by date range, level, or message content. Export Log Files In the Data Share module log viewer, you can export a log file or the results of a log file search to a comma-separated values (CSV) file, text file, or Microsoft Excel® file (if Excel is installed). You can troubleshoot issues by using the log viewer in the Data Share module . As the Data Share module log files are encrypted, you can view them only using the Data Share module . If needed, you can find events by date range, level, or content. On top of the Data Share pane, select Open EHR Data Share Log File . The Log Viewer window opens. EHR DataShare Log Viewer Do any of the following: To sort the data in ascending or descending order, select a column header. To update the file, select the refresh Refresh icon.
