CDA Validation

The CDA Validation feature displays a detailed report of items in a CDA that violate CDA standards. This feature is available in both Custom View and Full View. Enable Automatic Validation You can specify whether the CDA Viewer automatically performs validation when you open a document. Viewing CDA Documents in Custom View

Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) documents can contain hundreds of sections. To help you focus on the most important sections for your daily work, the Custom View tab supports the following subset of CDA sections that contain the most critical information: Demographics Header Medications Meds Administered Allergies Problems Immunizations Results Encounters Vital Signs Procedures Family History Social History Advanced Directives Medical Equipment Payers Reason for Referral Discharge Summary Note Consultation Note History And Physical Note Progress Note To see any of the sections not supported in the Custom View tab, refer to the Full View tab. Accessing the CDA Viewer

You can open the CDA Viewer from several contexts, including NextGen® Enterprise EHR, Data Share Module, Medical Summary Utility, Clinical Reconciliation Module, or NextGen® Clinical Message Manager. Open CDA Viewer from NextGen Enterprise EHR In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, you can launch the CDA Viewer from the Categories tab, Generate CCD button, Provider Approval Queue, or Data Share module. Open CDA Viewer from the Data Share Module You can open the CDA viewer from the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Data Share module during an import or export action, or while viewing the search history. Open CDA Viewer from MSU How to open the CDA Viewer from within Medical Summary Utility. Open the CDA Viewer from NextGen Clinical Message Manager How to open the CDA Viewer from NextGen® Clinical Message Manager. View CCRs

Continuity of Care Record (CCR) is an old standard for patient summary records. The CCR standard preceded the creation of the Continuity of Care Document (CCD) standard. The CDA Viewer can display CCR documents, but some CDA Viewer features are not available when viewing CCRs: Only the Full View is supported, so the document is opened in Full View. Continuity of Care Record in Full View If you select Custom View, the tab displays a message explaining that CCRs are not available in Custom View. Warning for CCR in Custom View Filters are not available. The complete document is displayed. CDA Validation does not apply to CCRs. The CDA Validation tab displays the message "Document does not appear to be a CDA document. No validation was performed." Parent topic: CDA Viewer

Viewing CDA Documents in Full View

The Full View enables you to view the complete human-readable text of a CDA document, formatted as it would appear in a web browser. Full View To navigate within the CDA document, you can do any of the following: Use the vertical scroll bar to scroll through the document continuously. Scroll to the Table of Contents links after the header section, then select a link to jump straight to the corresponding section. Table of Contents Links Select the underlined header at the start of any section to jump back to the Table of Contents. Underlined Headers that Link to Table of Contents Select Search Search or select CTRL-F. When the Find bar appears, enter a search term. The number of Found Matches is displayed on the Find bar. Use the Previous and Next buttons to step through the document to each place the search team appears. Previous and Next Buttons Select Comments to enter internal notes . The CDA Viewer provides the Custom View and Full View tabs: Custom View and Full View Tabs The Custom View and Full View tabs provide views of the CDA contents. Custom View provides a quick look at the most commonly useful sections, while Full View enables you to view the full document. Following is a comparison of the features of Full View and Custom View: Feature Custom View Full View Inclusiveness Even when no filter is applied, displays only the most commonly useful sections of the CDA. When no filter is applied, displays the full human-readable contents of the CDA. Filtering When you can create filters, you can only select from a list of the most commonly useful sections. You can also create filters that determine which entries are displayed within an individual section. You can create filters for the current user or for all members of a practice.
