Receive Rx Fill Notification Messages

The administrator and the user setup is required to receive Rx Fill notification messages. The administrator should do the following: Enroll the provider for Rx Fill and Rx Fill Indicator Change Retail Service Level in File Maintenance. Enroll the Surescripts provider for Rx Fill. Verify that the retail pharmacy participates in Rx Fill transaction. To update pharmacy records, perform a pharmacy download. Make sure NextGen® Communication Services(NCS) is running. You do not need to make changes to the processes. Each user that wants to see the Rx Fill notifications in the Medications Module must add the RxFill Status column in the Medications module > Grid Preferences. Workflow of RxFill Indicator Change

Before you begin The provider enrolls to the RxFill and RxFill Indicator Change Retail Service Level in File Maintenance. The pharmacy sending the RxFill notifications enrolls to the Rx Fill and Rx Fill Indicator Change Retail Service Level in File Maintenance. The latest version of NextGen® Communication Services supporting RxFill is installed. The provider's high level workflow to send RxFill Indicator change XML messages to the pharmacy is discussed in this section. The provider can change the existing type of RxFill notifications received from the pharmacy. RxFill Indicator change XML message for a medication is sent to the pharmacy. Open the Medication module. Select the medication due for refill request approval. The enrolled provider checks if the medication prescription Last Audit status is eRx, Print or Fax. Before you begin The provider enrolls to the Rx Fill and Rx Fill Indicator Change Retail Service Level in File Maintenance indicating that the provider has agreed to receive RxFill notifications. The provider should add RxFill Status to their display Grid Preferences to see RxFill statuses in the Medication module. Note: RxFill notifications should be disabled for inactive medications. If the RxFill notification has not been received, then the RxFill Status is blank instead of showing No Status. The provider has the option to unenroll from the RxFill Service Level in File Maintenance The pharmacy sending the RxFill notifications enrolls to the Rx Fill and Rx Fill Indicator Change Retail Service Level in File Maintenance. Rx Fill Notification Messages

RxFill messages provide a prescriber dispensing activity information for a prescription. The provider can select the type of RxFill notifications they want to receive from a pharmacy for a patient. If a patient forgets to pick up the medication on time, a provider will receive a not dispensed RxFill message for that prescription initially, followed by a dispensed RxFill message when the patient picks up the medication. The Rx Fill notification message types are: Rx Fill Notification Message Description All Filled Statuses Notify the prescriber about all the fill statuses. All Fill Statuses without Transferred Notify the prescriber about all fill statuses except transferred status. Dispensed and Partially Dispensed Notify the prescriber that a prescription has only been dispensed or partially dispensed. For example, the patient picked up only 15 of 30 tablets. The pharmacy would send the Dispensed status message when the patient returns to pick up the remaining tablets. Partially Dispen

Working with eRx Refill Requests from the Medications Icon

The Manage Refills window displays the patient's demographic information, provider information, pharmacy information, and the refill request details. This information is sent from Surescripts. You can either approve or deny the refill request. After you respond to a Refill Request from the Workflow > Clinical Tasking list, the request is no longer available in the Medications module and the Workflow window. View Refill Requests from the Medications Module You can view new eRx refill requests from the Medications module. Approve an eRx Refill Request from the Manage Refills Window You can approve an eRx refill request using the manage refills window.
