Before you begin
- The provider enrolls to the RxFill and RxFill Indicator Change Retail Service Level in File Maintenance.
- The pharmacy sending the RxFill notifications enrolls to the Rx Fill and Rx Fill Indicator Change Retail Service Level in File Maintenance.
- The latest version of NextGen® Communication Services supporting RxFill is installed.
The provider's high level workflow to send RxFill Indicator change XML messages to the pharmacy is discussed in this section. The provider can change the existing type of RxFill notifications received from the pharmacy. RxFill Indicator change XML message for a medication is sent to the pharmacy.
- Open the Medication module.
- Select the medication due for refill request approval.
The enrolled provider checks if the medication prescription
Last Audit status is
eRx,
Print or
Fax.
Note: The provider updates or saves the RxFill notifications only if both the provider and pharmacy are enrolled for the RxFill service level. If the provider does not have eRX permissions the RxFill notifications list is disabled.
- Send a NewRX message or respond to a refill request by the Inbox, Manage Refills , Unmatched Refills or RxChange Request.
Note: The provider cannot modify or add RxFill notifications in Unmatched Refills workflow
- Verify the RxFill Notifications option in the Additional Prescription Detail section.
- Select another RxFill Notifications option.
- Select Accept.
The RxFill notification is set and a RxFill changes are sent within the RxFill Indicator Change field of the XML message to the pharmacy.
- Verify the updated option in the RxFill Status column, once the pharmacy processes the RxFill message for the medication.
- Right-click the medication and select the RxFill History link.
The RxFill History link is updated with all changes related to the RxFill status including all status types.
- Select the RxFill Notification Change History link in the RxFill History window to view the changed information to the RxFill notification types. If the notifications types have not been changed then the grid area is blank.
Note: The provider can only change or modify RxFill statuses within the Medication module after the initial response is sent for a Renewal and RxChange request.
