Acquiring and Viewing Data Collected by Medical Equipment

On the Integrated Equipment Module (IEM), you can acquire and view data collected by medical diagnostic equipment manufactured by Midmark Diagnostics, Hillrom™ Welch Allyn® , Hillrom™ HeartCentrix® (former Cardiac Science), and General Electric. Note: The diagnostic cardiology product line that was originally manufactured byCardiac Science®, was later sold to Mortara Instrument, then Welch Allyn® , then Hillrom™ . This product line includes theBurdick™andQuinton™brands. In this guide, these devices are referred to as " Hillrom™ HeartCentrix® (former Cardiac Science)" devices. When you perform a test, such as an ECG, on a patient using an interfaced medical equipment, the IEM acquires data from the device and can generate a PDF report that can be viewed in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, sent to NextGen® PxP Portal, and viewed in NextGen® Mobile. The General Electric® (GE®) CardioSoft interface can be installed to run on a workstation with NextGen® Enterprise EHR 5.6.1 or higher. This interface communicates with GE CardioSoft® ECG Management System 6.51 that supports the following applications: GE CardioSoft Resting ECG GE CardioSoft Stress ECG GE CardioSoft Spirometry GE CardioSoft Ambulatory Blood Pressure GE CardioSoft™ connectivity is configured for fat-client workstations; however, GE does offer software to allow thin-client viewing. Supported Equipment

NextGen Healthcare does not explicitly support any equipment interface over thin-client, terminal services, WYSE, Citrix®, and so on. If the equipment uses a serial or COM port to communicate, you may forward the COM port over a thin-client platform. If a device manufacturer provides USB Virtual Channel software, you may forward the USB port of that device to the server. Note: If your equipment uses an RS232 serial port (referred to in Windows as a COM port, and typically using a DB9 connector), the USB to serial adapter should be Future Technology Devices International Limited (FTDI) based. Non-FTDI USB to serial adapters sometimes cause issues that are fixed by replacing the adapter with one that is FTDI-based. The circumstance of a thin-client implementation is something to discuss with the client's IT department before making a decision.
