Action Panel

The action panel enables you to enter new calls, make updates to existing calls (depending on your permission settings), and create tasks when logging a call. Action Panel The Action Panel has a top tool bar that contains: Call Type: A new call can be logged by selecting a type from the list Date: Defaults to the current date and time After hours: Select if the call is after business hours for your practice Cancel: Cancels the current call New Call: A new call is opened Note: : There is no way to delete a saved call. The Cancel button is the only way to delete an unfinished call. Outside of the basic workflow for call types, from the Action Panel you can: Use pre-configured comments called My Phrases and Manage Phrases Perform an administrative action if needed Release info of logged PHI View scheduled appointments for the selected patient You can Add and Add & Task the call types, and Save & Reply the call task. Communication Component Grid

The Communication Component Grid appears at the top of the Communication component. Communication Component Grid The grid displays details about logged calls made in the Communication component. Details for specific calls can be collapsed and expanded using the and icons next to the call. Calls logged from the previous telephone call template displays in the grid, but these calls can only be viewed in the component. You can make changes to the call based on the Panel properties. After the call is changed or updated, it is displayed as a new row in the Communication Component Grid under the existing Call Type. From the grid, you can: Filter logged calls Create a task for logged and unassociated calls Generate a document for logged calls If you select a communication task from the Workflow module, the Communication component opens and focuses on the call associated with the task. Call Information

The Call Information element enables you to select the Contact Type of the call, the Urgency of the issue, and who the user Spoke With on the call. Contact Type and Spoke With are required fields for all communication categories. Each column enables you to enter a custom option after the provided options. Call Status

The Call Status element enables you to mark the status of the call. The two options are Open and Complete. Open is selected as the default option. Open Status When a call is marked as Complete, a document for the call is generated automatically. Contact Information

The Contact Information element enables you to select the Preferred Contact and Alternate Contact information for the selected patient or contact. If the individual who contacted the practice was not the patient, you may need to adjust the contact information. Otherwise, the contact information is automatically-populated with the patient's demographic information. Each contact option has an Other field to enter information manually. Use the Communication Component

The Communication component enables you to document calls or communications that can then be placed on a template. This provides a more functional space to maintain and update data, rather than static form fields of telephone call templates. This component functions as a data-driven workflow to document call types that provide a resource for users to document as well as take any necessary follow-up actions produced by the call. The component is made up of the Communication Component Grid and Action Panel. The Communication component enables a streamlined approach to documenting calls for the following categories: Billing Questions Charges Forms/Record Requests Medical Questions Medication Management Referral Request Test Results Request Other Note: For NextGen® Enterprise, 5.8 UD2 and above, the Communication component must be configured in Template Editor to place on a template.
