You can select tests using the NextGen compendium an entity-specific list of tests, or a practice- or provider-defined list of favorite tests. You cannot combine your selections from different lists (such as one from the Labcorp list and one from the NextGen compendium list). If you try to mix more than one compendium, a message appears, stating that you cannot switch to another compendium unless you delete all tests from the current compendium
You can perform the following actions from the Select Tests panel of the Select Tests tab.
You can view or select the Performing Entity on the top menu bar. If your practice preferences or insurance carve-outs are set up, the performing entity can be selected automatically. When you select a test performing entity, the list of all tests associated with that test lab in the master file appears. If the performing entity is set up and the NextGen compendium is enabled, the Use NextGen Compendium check box is selected in the Select Tests panel. The test detail is from those defined in the NextGen compendium.
You can use a pre-defined Test Favorites list that has been assigned to the current provider or practice. For example, you can use a Test Favorites list from Labcorp.
Test favorites can be set up in a variety of ways:
Test favorites must be defined and set up for your database before they can be used; however, provider favorites can be set up in the Orders module, as needed. For more information about setting up test favorites, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Orders Module Setup Guide for NextGen Enterprise EHR.
If Medicare will not pay for the service or order scheduled for a patient, you can print an Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) and record the patient's decision about covering the cost of the tests.
