Copying Signoff Comments from PAQ to Linked Orders

Two PAQ general preferences are set by default to copy signoff comments to linked lab orders or to linked radiology orders but can be turned off. If the Copy Signoff Comments preferences are turned on, any PAQ comments you enter for a document or image result that is linked to a lab or radiology order are copied to the Sign-off and Tracking Comments section for the order in the Orders module. You can enter comments for a linked Document Management image or a NextGen® Enterprise EHR image, a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine document, or a NextGen® Enterprise EHR document. You can add comments in the PAQ before you sign off the pending item in the PAQ or after you sign off using the blue check mark in a document. Unlink a NextGen® Document Management Image from an Open Order

If a NextGen® Document Management image was erroneously linked to an open order in the Orders module, you can unlink it in the Provider Approval Queue tab. You cannot unlink a NextGen® Document Management image for an NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order from the PAQ. You must unlink the image on the Order Management template in the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Open the Workflow module. Select the Provider Approval Queue tab. In the Pending tab, select a NextGen® Document Management image from the list. A preview of the item displays in the viewing pane. Select the Orders module . Link and Unlink tabs open. If the image is already linked to an open order, the Unlink tab is selected by default. Select the order from the list. Select Unlink Document/Image. Sign off Orders in the PAQ

To view and sign off DM images, access PAQ. Select a DM image associated with a patient. To display the Orders Document Link and Unlink section, select the Orders Module button on the PAQ panel. The system displays the order types and tests based on the order preferences selected in File Maintenance (that is, Order Type and Source). If necessary, you can unlink orders. For example, if a different DM image needs to be linked to an order. Note: You can only unlink an image that has been linked to an order processed in the Orders module If necessary, link an image, by selecting Link or Complete (for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine results). Add any comments, if needed, and perform Sign off for the selected DM Image. The system updates the status of the order or result, as appropriate. For Lab tests processed in the Orders module, the system updates the order status from Ordered to Assigned when the DM image is linked to a test. Link a NextGen® Document Management Image to an Open Order

In the Provider Approval Queue tab, you can link NextGen® Document Management images to open orders in the Orders module and NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine to provide a consistent status for orders and their associated results. After you link the NextGen® Document Management image to the open order, its status updates to Assigned in the Orders module. In the Order Management template in the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, the status is either Completed or Result Received, based on the settings in File Maintenance Practice Preferences. Open the Workflow module. Select the Provider Approval Queue tab. In the Pending tab, select a NextGen® Document Management image from the list. A preview of the item is displayed in the viewing pane. Select the Orders module . Link and Unlink tabs open. If the NextGen® Document Management image is not linked to any open order, the Link tab is selected by default. If the image is already linked to an open order, the Unlink tab is selected by default.

Manage Copying Signoff Comments to Linked Orders

The Copy Signoff Comments section contains two preferences that are enabled by default to copy signoff comments to linked lab orders and to linked radiology/diagnostic orders. You can disable either or both of these preferences. You can enable the preferences again after you disable them. From the Provider Approval Queue menu, select Preferences. The PAQ Preferences window opens, with the General tab in view. To clear the preferences, clear To linked Lab Orders or To linked Rad/Diag Orders check box. Select OK.
