Unlink a NextGen® Document Management Image from an Open Order

If a NextGen® Document Management image was erroneously linked to an open order in the Orders module, you can unlink it in the Provider Approval Queue tab. You cannot unlink a NextGen® Document Management image for an NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order from the PAQ. You must unlink the image on the Order Management template in the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Open the Workflow module. Select the Provider Approval Queue tab. In the Pending tab, select a NextGen® Document Management image from the list. A preview of the item displays in the viewing pane. Select the Orders module . Link and Unlink tabs open. If the image is already linked to an open order, the Unlink tab is selected by default. Select the order from the list. Select Unlink Document/Image. Set Up Document Linking Practice Preferences

To link DM images to orders functions in DM and PAQ, your practice must first set up the appropriate order type filter preferences. To select the default order preferences that the system displays in DM and the PAQ for document linking, do the following: Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > EHR > Practices > Preferences > Orders Module. Select All tab. In the Orders / Results Linking section, select the default order type to display when selecting orders to link to a scanned document. If your practice receives the majority of radiology test results as scanned documents, select Diagnostics/Radiology as the Default View. In the Order Type and Default Source section, select the Default Source for each Order Type. If your practice places the majority of your Radiology orders in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, select Adaptive Content Engine (as the source). If Lab Orders are placed in or processed to the Order module, select the Orders Module as the source for that order type

Scan and Link an Image in DM

Open NextGen® Document Management. Access a document or image using Scan & File or Batches. Select a Document type. Note: The selected Document Type must have the Potential Order Resultcheck box selected in File Maintenance. Select a patient. The open orders (that is, not Signed off or Completed) display. The default Order/Result Linking preferences you selected in File Maintenance appear. Note: In this example, the practice has set up their default view to display Labs and the Order module as the default source. However, for another document type, for example a Radiology image, the user can select the appropriate display options on the Link tab. Select a test order from either the default view or by selecting another order type or order source. If necessary, you can unlink an image from an order. Sign off Orders in the PAQ

To view and sign off DM images, access PAQ. Select a DM image associated with a patient. To display the Orders Document Link and Unlink section, select the Orders Module button on the PAQ panel. The system displays the order types and tests based on the order preferences selected in File Maintenance (that is, Order Type and Source). If necessary, you can unlink orders. For example, if a different DM image needs to be linked to an order. Note: You can only unlink an image that has been linked to an order processed in the Orders module If necessary, link an image, by selecting Link or Complete (for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine results). Add any comments, if needed, and perform Sign off for the selected DM Image. The system updates the status of the order or result, as appropriate. For Lab tests processed in the Orders module, the system updates the order status from Ordered to Assigned when the DM image is linked to a test. Set Up the Order Type and Source View for DM and the PAQ in File Maintenance

Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > EHR > Practices > Preferences > Orders Module. Select All tab. In the Orders / Results Linking section, select Diagnostics/Radiology as the default view. Setting Up the Link Document Management (DM) Images to Orders and Status Update Preferences

Users currently have the ability to link DM scanned images to order tests in the Orders module. Starting with NextGen® Enterprise version 5.8.3, for a more efficient workflow, practices can set up order type filter preferences in File Maintenance to more easily select the orders to link images in PAQ and NextGen® Document Management. By linking these images, when providers sign-off on the test order, the system updates the order status. Users can view the updated status for the order on the Orders Summary tab, as well as the linked image. For practices that use NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine for order processing, users can link a document image to a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order in either NextGen® Document Management or PAQ, for example a Referral order. Once a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order is linked (or associated) with an image, the system updates the order status.
