Imaging Module

The Imaging module enables you to use clinical images while working with a patient’s medical record in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. You can only access the Imaging module when an image is saved to the patient's chart. With the module, you can open existing images to modify, illustrate, annotate, convert, and save them to a patient's history. You can also scan an image, perform necessary modifications, and then save it. Each image is cataloged by patient, date, and title. From the Imaging module, you can add, modify, print, or delete Quicknotes, or add provider signatures to NextGen® Document Management images. Modification or annotation of NextGen® Document Management images is not enabled. Scan an Image to Add to the Patient Chart

Before you begin Ensure that you have access to a scanner and have scanning software on the workstation. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient. Select an existing encounter from the Encounter History or create an encounter. To open the Images module, do one of the following: On the Top Toolbar, select the Images icon. On the main menu, select File > New > Image. The Open Image File window opens. Select either the Scan One or Scan All button.The Select Source window opens. Select the scanner name, and select Select.The Imaging module and your scanner's software window opens. To scan the image, follow the on-screen instructions on scanner window.After completion of scanning , the image appears in the Imaging module. Before you begin Open the Imaging module by doing one of the following: Open an image saved to a patient's medical chart Open a new image stored on your system Scanning a new image When you open the Imaging module, it adds the following items to the Main menu: Items to the View menu. Modify an Image

You can modify previously saved images. If an encounter is locked, you cannot modify its images. If you need to modify an existing image from a locked encounter, create an addendum to the encounter and create a new image. For more information about addendums, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Layout and Preferences Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select an image. Enter all of the necessary modifications, such as: Imaging component annotations Drawing annotations Text Image rotation Electronic signature Select the Save button. Imaging Components

Imaging components are medical images that can be imported from a specific file stored on your workstation or network and saved within the NextGen® Enterprise EHR system. Once a medical image is imported and saved as an imaging component, you can place it on an Imaging Component toolbar and use it to annotate a patient’s image. You must have user rights and permissions to import or edit imagining components, as well as to create and edit imaging component sets and toolbars. Contact your system administrator about your user rights and permissions. All imported images are stored as imaging components in the Imaging Component Gallery. You can store imaging components separately, or as part of a user-defined Imaging Component Set. Any imaging components stored in the gallery can be added to an Imaging Component toolbar. Note: After you import an image and store it as an imaging component, you can no longer delete it from the gallery. You hide a specific imaging component to prevent it bein

Open an Image from the Patient Chart

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient. Choose the image on the Encounter History or Categories tab. Double-click the image. The Imaging module opens the selected image in the work area. Parent topic: Opening the Imaging Module
