Save an Image to an Encounter

Images are saved to a specific encounter. If an encounter is locked, you cannot modify its images. You can either create an addendum to the encounter or create a custom encounter for the specific date. For more information about encounters, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Layout and Preferences Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On the Top Toolbar, select Save. The Save Image File window opens. On the Save Image File window, do the following: Select the Show categories check box. The Show categories pane opens within the Save Image File window. Save Image File Window Enter the image description in the Please enter image description field. Note: NextGen Healthcare strongly recommends to save the images with consistent file names to make them available for reuse. Select the Add description to the list check box to add the specified description to the image. To select the previously saved image from the list, enter the corresponding file name or descrip

Lock an Encounter

Before you begin Ensure that the Rights > Operations > Encounters > Lock Patient Encounter in System Administrator is set to True and the necessary access rights are enabled. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest System Administrator Guide forNextGen®Enterprise. To prevent changes or additions to a patient encounter, you can lock the encounter. You can create an addendum to add documents or images to a locked encounter. Note: If you do not lock the encounter manually, the encounter gets automatically locked within 72 hours, by default. You can change the default locking period by accessing File Maintenance > Enterprise Preferences General > Lock Interval tab, or Practice Master file > Practice Defaults tab. Imaging Module

The Imaging module enables you to use clinical images while working with a patient’s medical record in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. You can only access the Imaging module when an image is saved to the patient's chart. With the module, you can open existing images to modify, illustrate, annotate, convert, and save them to a patient's history. You can also scan an image, perform necessary modifications, and then save it. Each image is cataloged by patient, date, and title. From the Imaging module, you can add, modify, print, or delete Quicknotes, or add provider signatures to NextGen® Document Management images. Modification or annotation of NextGen® Document Management images is not enabled. Filing Documents to NextGen® Enterprise EHR Encounters

When you file a NextGen® Document Management document to a clinical encounter that is locked in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, you do not need to create an encounter. You can create an addendum to the locked encounter and attach the document to the addendum in NextGen® Document ManagementBy attaching an addendum, you can view the document along with the encounter it belongs to. Note: If the encounter you selected is locked, the application displays a message to indicate that the encounter is locked. Associate Multiple Images from the Images Pane

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR Select a patient. Select an existing encounter or create an encounter. On the Top Toolbar, select the Images module and add images to the patients chart. Open the template that contains the Graphical Exam Tool (GET) component. The GET component window opens. Select the Options and Settings Popup Menu icon and then select Show Findings Images. From the IMAGE pane, select the Images check box, select FINDINGS and annotate the GET image. The selected images no longer appear on the IMAGES pane. A new row is added in the Findings Data Grid with the findings details. An icon appears in the Findings Data Grid row denoting that multiple images are attached to the finding. The Photo section of the GET component appears. The image is added to the Photo section with the following format: Finding Name-Region Description( x. x). Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select a patient. Select an existing encounter or create an encounter. Open the template that contains the Graphical Exam Tool (GET) component. The GET component window opens. Select FINDINGS and annotate the GET image. A new row is added in the Findings Data Grid with the findings details. Right-click the findings in the Findings Data Grid, and select Attach Image. The Select Image window opens. Select the image and select Open. The image is added to the Photo section with the following format: Finding Name-Region Description( x. x). You can add multiple images to the Photo section. In the Photo section, you can perform the following: Select the Original icon to view and zoom the image. Select the Manage Images icon to move images up, down, and delete. Select the Close icon to close the image. On the NextGen® Enterprise EHR toolbar, select Save.
