File Menu

The NextGen® Enterprise EHR File menu includes the following options.

File Option	Description
New	Enables you to create an encounter, case, custom encounter, addendum, group encounter, patient, person, insurance, image, template, document, and referral, and also lock an encounter.
Select Patient	Opens the Patient Lookup window. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Patient Demographics Guide forNextGen®Enterprise.
Modify Patient	Opens the Update Patient Information window. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Patient Demographics Guide forNextGen®Enterprise.
Close Patient	Closes the current patient chart.
Save	Enables you to save a document.
Close	Enables you to close a document.
Print	Enables you to print a document.
Custom Print \ Send	Enables you to do custom printing and faxing, and send items to NextGen® PxP Portal .
Print Preview	Appears only if a document is open, and enables you to preview the entire document, including headers and footers, before it is printed.
Page Setup	Appears only if a document is open, and enables you to specify the width, height, tab settings, and margins of a document.
Export Patient Documents	Enables you to convert any NextGen® Enterprise EHR document into a pdf file and export it to NextGen® Enterprise Rosetta Interface Messenger, your local disk, or NextGen® PxP Portal.
Graph	Enables you to generate template, order results, time line, and growth chart graphs.
Reports	Enables you to create and generate custom NextGen® Enterprise EHR reports, view a list of memorized reports, view report snapshots, filter Significant Events reports, and access and generate user-defined SAP® Crystal Reports® as well as standard NextGen® Enterprise EHR SAP Crystal Reports. You must use the latest version of SAP Crystal Reports. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Reports User Guide forNextGen®Enterprise EHR.
ChartMail	Not currently available.
Family Unit	Enables you to access the Family Unit module of NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
Privacy Consent	Opens the Privacy Consent window, and enables you to access or publish patients' information including patients' consent. For more information, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Patient Demographics Guide forNextGen®Enterprise.
Patient Portal	Displays the NextGen® PxP Portal enrollment status, and enables you to update the status by sending an enrollment email to the patient. You can send interactive medical forms, documents, or a scheduled message to NextGen® PxP Portal. Note: The displayed options change depending on the NextGen® PxP Portal enrollment status. The Patient Portal option is disabled if the NextGen® PxP Portal license has expired.
Patient Education	Enables you to access Healthwise® Patient Education, which is available as an optional purchase.
Patient Group	Opens the Patient Group window. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Patient Demographics Guide forNextGen®Enterprise.
Summary	Displays a summary of the patient's allergies, problems, procedures, orders, or medications. If you purchased the optional equipment module, this option displays a prompt for the module. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Medications and Medication Allergies Modules User Guide forNextGen®Enterprise EHR and Integrated Equipment Module User Guide forNextGen®Enterprise EHR.
Superbill	Enables you to access the Superbill module. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Procedures and Superbill Modules User Guide forNextGen®Enterprise EHR .
System \ Practice Template	Enables you to select System and Practice templates.
Clinical Quality Reporting	Enables you to generate the NextGen® HQM Patient Clinical Quality report or the NextGen® HQM Provider Clinical Quality report. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest HQM Clinical Quality Report Generation User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
NextGen Population Health	Enables only when the NextGen Population Health Production URL field in Universal Preferences contains the NextGen Population Health URL. Enables you open the NextGen Population Health website in the default user browser outside the NextGen® Enterprise EHR application.
Work Flow...	Enables you to access the Workflow module. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Workflow Module Guide forNextGen®Enterprise EHR.
User Workgroups	Enables you to select Workflow user groups. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Workflow Module Guide forNextGen®Enterprise EHR.
Provider Approval Queue	Prompts users with a Sign In window for the Provider Approval Queue (PAQ). For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Workflow Module Guide forNextGen®Enterprise EHR.
Change Enterprise/Practice...	Enables you to switch between the enterprise and practice without logging off. You must have appropriate permissions to log on to a different enterprise or practice.
Logout	Enables you to log off from the system.
Exit	Enables you to close the application.

Note: The Generate CCD command is no longer available in the File menu. To generate Continuity-of-Care Documents (CCDs) and other types of Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) documents, you can do one of the following:

You can use the Export feature of the Medical Summary Utility.
You can select Generate CCD on any NextGen® Enterprise EHR template.
You can lock an encounter in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, if a Rosetta agent for a CCD Locked Encounter was configured for you by NextGen Client Support.
You can use a type of SQL stored procedure called a backload procedure, which can be configured for you by NextGen Client Support.
