Deny an eRx Refill Request from the Manage Refills Window

You can deny an eRx refill request task from the Manage Refills window in the Medications module. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient. To view the Medications module for the patient, select Medications from the Quick Buttons panel. If NextGen® Enterprise EHR detects a new eRx refill request for the patient, the Manage Refills window opens, where you can view the refill requests details of the patient. To view the details of the refill request, select the refill request and select Details. The Refill Response Details window opens. To select a denial reason for the refill request, do one of the following: Select Deny Refill and select a reason from the list. Right-click the request, select Deny Refill, and then select a reason from the list. Deny Refill Note: If you configure custom denial reasons, NextGen® Enterprise EHR includes eRx custom denial reasons in the denial reasons list. Resolve Denied eRx Refill Request

When you receive an eRx refill request and deny the request with the reason as Denial – New Prescription to follow, the Resolve Denied Refills link appears on the Send Prescription window. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select a patient and open Medications module. Select a medication where the eRx refill request was denied with the Denial - New Prescription to follow reason. Select View Denied Refills. The Deny New To Follow window opens. Deny New To Follow Select Details to open and view the Refill Request Details window. Select Close. To remove the denied refill from the list, select Remove. The Remove medication from queue window opens stating the confirmation message. Do one of the following: To remove the medication from the list, select Yes. To return to the Deny New to Follow window without removing the medication, select No. Select Close. The Encounter History tab displays the eRx refill notification as an email item. Note: A notification is not added if an unmatched patient entry is denied with a reason of Deny-Unknown Patient. Whenever you approve or deny an ePrescribing (eRx) refill request, a notification is added to the patient record. The Encounter History tab displays the eRx refill notification as an email item for the applicable encounter.
