Working with eRx Refill Requests from the Medications Icon

The Manage Refills window displays the patient's demographic information, provider information, pharmacy information, and the refill request details. This information is sent from Surescripts. You can either approve or deny the refill request. After you respond to a Refill Request from the Workflow > Clinical Tasking list, the request is no longer available in the Medications module and the Workflow window. Electronic Prescriptions

You can electronically submit a prescription directly to a selected pharmacy. The ePrescribing feature uses the Surescripts retail and mail-order networks of pharmacies and must be set up through File Maintenance and System Administrator. You should remember the following points before submitting prescriptions electronically: Any medication you submit electronically must have a valid patient's Rx eligibility request, a valid SIG, a numeric quantity value, and a unit type. When resubmitting (including responding to refill requests) a medication previously prescribed without a valid unit type, you must update the unit type to a valid value. You can submit controlled substances electronically only if ePCS is set up. User-defined medications are not supported with Surescripts. You cannot send a medication that is not DEA Schedule 0 without the required setup. If you need supervision, you cannot send a prescription without selecting the appropriate supervising physician. eRx Refill Requests from the Workflow Module Inbox

A patient Inclusion or Exclusion List may restrict your access to eRX refill requests. If you are a workflow delegate for another user or provider, you may not be able to access the same refill requests as that person. If you do not have access to a patient, the message "Restricted" appears under the Patient Name, Subject, and Description columns. Unmatching eRx Refill Requests

If information from the issuing pharmacy does not match the data stored in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR database, a separate task is added to your task list on the Workflow window, in the Clinical Tasking tab. This task includes the current unmatched refill request. Workflow You can manually match patient demographics, medication, and prescription information, using the Refill Request Patient Matching window. You can also remove an unmatched eRx refill request task. Deny an eRx Refill Request from the Manage Refills Window

You can deny an eRx refill request task from the Manage Refills window in the Medications module. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient. To view the Medications module for the patient, select Medications from the Quick Buttons panel. If NextGen® Enterprise EHR detects a new eRx refill request for the patient, the Manage Refills window opens, where you can view the refill requests details of the patient. To view the details of the refill request, select the refill request and select Details. The Refill Response Details window opens. To select a denial reason for the refill request, do one of the following: Select Deny Refill and select a reason from the list. Right-click the request, select Deny Refill, and then select a reason from the list. Deny Refill Note: If you configure custom denial reasons, NextGen® Enterprise EHR includes eRx custom denial reasons in the denial reasons list. Deny eRx Refill Request from the Workflow Module

You can deny an eRx refill request task from the Workflow module. When you deny an eRx refill request, NextGen® Enterprise EHR sends a message to the pharmacy informing about the denial. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and open the Workflow module. Select the Clinical Tasking tab and select a refill request from the task list. The refill request details and patient information appears. Refill Request Select Deny. The reasons for denial appear. Note: If you configure custom denial reasons, NextGen® Enterprise EHR includes eRx custom denial reasons in the denial reasons list.
