Working with eRx Refill Requests from the Medications Icon

The Manage Refills window displays the patient's demographic information, provider information, pharmacy information, and the refill request details. This information is sent from Surescripts. You can either approve or deny the refill request. After you respond to a Refill Request from the Workflow > Clinical Tasking list, the request is no longer available in the Medications module and the Workflow window. eRx Custom Denial Reasons

You can create and use unique denial reasons to explain why an electronic refill request is denied. Use the codes in the same way as the standard Surescripts denial codes. The custom codes give the physicians more options to select from when an electronic prescription must be denied for a specific reason. For example, physicians who are not ePCS-certified might create the custom code Cannot eRx Controlled Substances to use if they receive refill requests for controlled substances. When a physician responds to an electronic refill request with a denial and selects a custom denial reason, the reason is sent through SureScripts to the pharmacy. You can create custom denial reasons in File Maintenance from Master Lists > eRx Custom Denial Reasons. Deny an eRx Refill Request from the Manage Refills Window

You can deny an eRx refill request task from the Manage Refills window in the Medications module. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient. To view the Medications module for the patient, select Medications from the Quick Buttons panel. If NextGen® Enterprise EHR detects a new eRx refill request for the patient, the Manage Refills window opens, where you can view the refill requests details of the patient. Deny eRx Refill Request from the Workflow Module

You can deny an eRx refill request task from the Workflow module. When you deny an eRx refill request, NextGen® Enterprise EHR sends a message to the pharmacy informing about the denial. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and open the Workflow module. Select the Clinical Tasking tab and select a refill request from the task list. The refill request details and patient information appears. Refill Request Select Deny. The reasons for denial appear. Note: If you configure custom denial reasons, NextGen® Enterprise EHR includes eRx custom denial reasons in the denial reasons list. Deny a Refill

Refill requests appear on your Refills view. In NextGen® Mobile, open the Hub module. Select Refill Requests. The Refills view appears listing the refill requests. By default, the list is ordered from oldest to newest with the oldest on top of the list. In the Refills view, locate the patient and medication that you plan to deny. The selected entry must be marked with Matched Refill. Select the patient entry. The Refill Request view opens. Refill Request view Select Deny. The Deny message appears. To add a non-clinical note to the pharmacy, select in the Add note to pharmacy and enter a text note in the field. Select the Reason for denying field and select a denial reason. If none of the reasons apply, you can select Custom Denial Reason and select a custom denial reason in the eRx Custom Denial Reason field.
