You can deny an eRx refill request task from the Workflow module. When you deny an eRx refill request, NextGen® Enterprise EHR sends a message to the pharmacy informing about the denial.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and open the Workflow module.
- Select the Clinical Tasking tab and select a refill request from the task list.
The refill request details and patient information appears.
- Select Deny.
The reasons for denial appear.
Note: If you configure custom denial reasons,
NextGen® Enterprise EHR includes eRx custom denial reasons in the denial reasons list. For more information on custom denial reasons, go to

- Select a reason for denial from the list.
The
Send Refill Response window opens.
- Select Send to complete the refill request denial.
Note: If you select the Denial - New prescription to follow reason, the Note to Pharmacy window opens. When you send the denial, NextGen® Enterprise EHR adds a task to your tasks list, with the subject as DNTF.
- Select the Denial-New prescription to follow reason.
The
Note to Pharmacy window opens.
- Enter a note and select OK.
The system creates a
DNTF task in
Inbox.
You can complete the medication replacement task in the Medications module by prescribing a replacement medication and completing the DNTF Workflow for Renewal Requests.
