Access a Patient's Given VIS Documents after Administering an Immunization

After administering an immunization to a patient, if you have generated a VIS document to a patient, the document can be viewed in the Categories tab. To view the documents by category, set up the default VIS category in File Maintenance > Practices > Orders > Immunizations. Select an Immunizations Order from the Orders Summary tab. To display the VIS documents for the selected patient, select the Categories tab, and select Tree View from the list. Select the VIS category and expand to view the associated VIS documents. Note: If you have set up VIS as a default category, the VIS documents that you have given to a patient appear when you select that category. Select and double-click a document to view. Administer Immunizations for VFC-Eligible Patients

If your practice treats VFC-eligible patients, you can administer immunizations to them. Note: Before administering Immunizations, ensure that you have completed the recommended set up and mapping steps for custom VFC SIM codes. After selecting the vaccines on the Select Vaccines tab, select the Vaccine Details tab. The Create New/Update Immunizations Order for patient name window displays (on the Vaccine Details tab). On the Vaccine Details tab, select the vaccine, and provide the Vaccine and Immunizations Detail. For a VFC-eligible patient immunization, select the VFC Reason check box and select a VFC Reason from the list. In the Vaccines grid list, for the selected vaccine, Is VFC is selected and the VFC Reason displays. Select the Lot Number, if it does not display, enter it manually. Vaccine Inventory data populates. Enter additional information for the selected Immunization order, for example, Vaccine date, Brand Name, or Route, patient received counseling (Counseled); or if the

Print the Immunizations Summary Report

You can print information about all the immunizations a patient has received. You can print this report from the Immunizations tab. Note: The Immunizations Summary report appears in the format you selected when setting up the report (original format, CDC standard format, or Immunizations Detail format). Select Print on the Immunizations tab toolbar. Note: If you want to view the report before it prints, select the arrow next to the Print button and then select Print Preview. Select the printer where you want the report to print. When you print this report, the report is saved to the patient's chart within the associated encounter, and you can access the report from the Encounter History tab. Administer Immunizations with Alternate Medicare Q Codes

If your practice administers Immunizations with Alternate Medicare codes (Q codes) to Medicare patients, you must first set up these codes in the NDC Library before placing an Immunizations order. These codes display on the Create New/Update Immunizations Order patient name window (Vaccine Details tab) in the Billing Code field. You must select these codes to ensure more accurate billing for Flu immunizations in NextGen® Enterprise PM. After you select the vaccines on the Select Vaccines tab, select the Vaccine Details tab. The Create New/Update Immunizations Order for <patient name> window opens on the Vaccine Details tab. On the Vaccine Details tab, select the vaccine, and provide the Vaccine and Immunizations details. Select a Registry from the list, if necessary. Select the Lot Number from the list or enter it manually, if necessary. The vaccine data defaults from the Vaccine Inventory, including the NDC ID if it exists. Administer a Vaccine not in Inventory

For certain situations, you may need to administer an immunization for a vaccine that may not be in your practice's Vaccine Inventory. For example, a patient has been bitten by a rabid animal. From the Orders module, select Immunization Order from the New Order list. On the Select Vaccines tab, select Search All and search for the specific vaccine. The vaccine displays in the search results. For example, if you searched on rabies, vaccines for rabies appear. Select the appropriate vaccine and select OK, and then view and select an Allergy, if necessary. To administer the Immunization, select the Vaccine Details tab. Enter the Lot Number and NDC ID in the NDC ID field. Note: The caution indicator displays, which indicates the NDC ID for this rabies vaccine is not in the NDC Library. To verify if any NDC entries exist for this vaccine, select the ellipsis to access the NDC Lookup. No NDC ID codes appear for the CPT in the NDC lookup, indicating there is no valid record in the NDC Library

Sign Off Immunizations Orders

Supervising physicians and other authorized users can sign off completed or Pending Immunization orders. Select an immunizations order from the Orders Summary tab or the Immunizations Chart view. Do one of the following: Select Sign-off from the toolbar. Right-click an Immunizations order, and select Sign-off from the list. The Sign-off Vaccines for Order window opens. Note: All immunizations are selected by default. Select the appropriate Immunizations order and add your comments. To include your comment for all the selected immunizations, select Apply Comments To All. To sign off the Immunizations and save your comments, select Sign-off. On the Orders Summary tab, the Sign-off date and Sign-off person displays. The system updates the NextGen Status column to Signed-off. Note: If a user attempts to sign off an order that is already signed off, the order displays in read-only mode in the Sign-off Vaccines for Order window. Parent topic: Administering Immunizations
