Administer Immunizations for VFC-Eligible Patients

If your practice treats VFC-eligible patients, you can administer immunizations to them. Note: Before administering Immunizations, ensure that you have completed the recommended set up and mapping steps for custom VFC SIM codes. After selecting the vaccines on the Select Vaccines tab, select the Vaccine Details tab. The Create New/Update Immunizations Order for patient name window displays (on the Vaccine Details tab). On the Vaccine Details tab, select the vaccine, and provide the Vaccine and Immunizations Detail. For a VFC-eligible patient immunization, select the VFC Reason check box and select a VFC Reason from the list. In the Vaccines grid list, for the selected vaccine, Is VFC is selected and the VFC Reason displays. Select the Lot Number, if it does not display, enter it manually. Vaccine Inventory data populates. Enter additional information for the selected Immunization order, for example, Vaccine date, Brand Name, or Route, patient received counseling (Counseled); or if the

Once the Immunizations are selected on the Select Vaccines tab, you can administer them to the patient. Select the Default VIS Category

You can select your practice's default VIS category so that you can view a patient's VIS documents by selecting the default category on the Categories tab. Access the Immunizations Practice Preferences. Select the VIS category from the Default VIS Category list. Select OK at the bottom of the Imm tab. Verify the VIS History and Print VIS Document

If the Immunizations is successfully completed (system displays the Administered status), verify the VIS history and print the VIS documents: Review the VIS information in the VIS History section. To open a VIS document, select Open VIS. To print or give the VIS to a patient, select Print/Give VIS. Tip: This option prints the VIS document for the selected Immunizations Orders only. Select the appropriate Save option to complete the Immunizations administration process: Save & Task Saves changes and sends to the appropriate user (including the user saving the order, if indicated) or Group. Setting up the VIS Documents

You must set up the VIS documents to print or view them when ordering and administering a vaccine. Note: The VIS documents (that is, written in the English language) that are shipped with the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Products upgrade package are already attached to the appropriate vaccines. For information on how to attach additional VIS document to a vaccine, see Attach a VIS Document to a Vaccine Item. You can set up the VIS documents as follows: Create the VIS folder within the NextGen Root directory. Note: After the VIS folder has been created in the NextGen directory, you do not need to re-create this folder for any subsequent system updates. Copy the VIS documents to the VIS folder. After setting up the VIS documents, you can download and attach the VIS documents to specific vaccines, if necessary. Note: You can download additional VIS documents from the CDC website, if necessary. For example, you may need to download updated VIS documents to add the Document Type code. Update the
