Send Documents and Images to NextGen® PxP Portal

Before you begin

You must do the following:
  • Complete enrollment in NextGen® PxP Portal.
  • Add the NextGen® Document Management image to a patient's chart.
  • Set up image rights in System Administrator.
  • Configure document types and sending annotations with images in File Maintenance.
In NextGen® Document Management, you can send documents and images to NextGen® PxP Portal.
  1. Open NextGen® Document Management.
  2. On the toolbar, select Search, and then search for the documents or images.
The Matching Records grid displays the list of patients who are associated with images that match your search results.
  3. Double-click a patient record to open its associated images in the Search Results For: window, and then double-click the image you want to view.
The NextGen® Document Management viewer displays the image.
  4. Right-click the image, and then select Send Document to Patient Portal.
  5. In the Patient Portal Document Export window, enter your comment or add a standard response, and then select Send.

For more information on adding standard responses, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the NextGen® PxP Portal, Provider Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR.

If the image has annotations, and the Send Annotations With Image checkbox is not selected in Practice Preferences, the Send Annotations window opens and asks for confirmation.
  6. To include annotations with the document, select Yes, and then select OK.
To send the document without annotations, you can select No.

You can export documents and images in PDF format by selecting the export icon on the main toolbar.

The image is added to the NextGen® PxP Portal document history and the sent icon appears next to the document.
  7. Optional: To view the document history, right-click and then select View Patient Portal Document History.
