Set Up Operation Rights for Generating Reports

You can configure which user groups can generate NextGen® Document Management reports from NextGen® Document Management and NextGen® Enterprise PM. Open System Administrator. Select a user group, and then select the Rights tab. In Master Files, select System, PM, or Document Management, and then select Practices. The Practices List window opens. In the Practices list, double-click a practice. The Modify Practice Information window opens. Select Preferences. The Practice Preferences window opens. In Preferences List, select Imaging. Expand OPERATIONS, and then expand Reports. Select Doc Mgmt, and then in the Access Rights section, select Yes. Set Up Document Types

Before you begin Set up the document fields. For more information, go to Set Up Document Fields. Document types can act as classifications that refer to the nature of documents or images, such as X-ray, medical record, and progress note. Open File Maintenance. In Master Files, select System > Document Management, and then select Document Types. The Document Types List window opens. Select the open menu `button, and then select New. The Document Type Information window opens. Enter the necessary details, and then select Open folder button. The Field Search window opens. Note: When you add the Medical Record Number field to a document type, you must also add the Person Number field. The following table lists the operation rights for NextGen® Document Management that you can set up for user groups. Operation Right Action Users Can Perform Access Secured Image Batches Access image batches that are locked to another user. Annotate Add text to documents and images in NextGen® Document Management. Batch Posting Post a batch of documents and images in NextGen® Document Management. Batch Scanning Scan a batch of documents and images in NextGen® Document Management. Create Quick Note Create quick notes and attach them to documents or pages. Custom Chart Create a customized chart. Delete Batch Delete the non-posted batches in NextGen® Document Management. Configuring NextGen® Document Management Security

For NextGen® Document Management usage, you can configure the following for security controls: You can restrict users based on the document type. You can use network impersonation to restrict network access to image and document files. Network impersonation is a security process that controls user access to the image and document files stored in the Network Share Location folder. In NextGen® Document Management, you can use the username and password configured in enterprise preferences when you manipulate files in Windows® . You can set up operation rights to NextGen® Document Management imaging and report functions for user groups in System Administrator. You can manage access rights related to the scan templates for the security groups in System Administrator. Note: You must have the Modify permission to access the NextGen® Document Management images. Send Documents and Images to NextGen® PxP Portal

Before you begin You must do the following: Complete enrollment in NextGen® PxP Portal. Add the NextGen® Document Management image to a patient's chart. Set up image rights in System Administrator. Configure document types and sending annotations with images in File Maintenance. In NextGen® Document Management, you can send documents and images to NextGen® PxP Portal. Note: You cannot send documents larger than 15 MB. However, you can set the size limit for sending documents to NextGen® PxP Portal in System Administrator. For more information on System Administrator, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the System Administrator Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. Open NextGen® Document Management. Before using NextGen® Document Management, you must complete the following actions that can be performed in any order: Connect a scanner or an image acquisition device to a computer with the TWAIN driver installed. Configure NextGen® Document Management security rights in System Administrator. Set up the archive location for all images and documents by doing one of the following: If you are licensed to use remote scanning, set up the Imaging Archive Location folder on your network. If you are not licensed to use remote scanning, set up the Network Share Location folder on your network.
