Set Up Operation Rights for Generating Reports
You can configure which user groups can generate NextGen® Document Management reports from NextGen® Document Management and NextGen® Enterprise PM.

You can configure the image-related functions that a group of users can perform in NextGen® Document Management. Open System Administrator. Select a user group, and then select the Rights tab. In Master Files, select System, PM, or Document Management, and then select Practices. The Practices List window opens. In the Practices list, double-click a practice. The Modify Practice Information window opens. Select Preferences. The Practice Preferences window opens. In Preferences List, select Imaging. Expand OPERATIONS, and then expand Imaging. In the Access Rights section, select Yes.You can select No to deny the selected operation right for the user group. Note: When users belong to two groups that have their operation rights set differently from each other, then the Yes option prevails over the No option. Select Save. For NextGen® Document Management usage, you can configure the following for security controls: You can restrict users based on the document type. You can use network impersonation to restrict network access to image and document files. Network impersonation is a security process that controls user access to the image and document files stored in the Network Share Location folder. In NextGen® Document Management, you can use the username and password configured in enterprise preferences when you manipulate files in Windows® . You can set up operation rights to NextGen® Document Management imaging and report functions for user groups in System Administrator. You can manage access rights related to the scan templates for the security groups in System Administrator. Note: You must have the Modify permission to access the NextGen® Document Management images. Open NextGen® Document Management. Select Reports, and then select the report that you want to generate. The corresponding report filter window opens. In the Settings List section, select the tabs, and then configure the columns, filters, sorting order, and any additional criteria for the report. To configure how the report calculates totals, select Totals. To customize the number display and print options for the report, select Options. To customize the report header and footer, select Head/Foot. To save the selected criteria, select Save. Select OK. The report is generated based on the selected criteria. Select a user group, and then select the Rights tab. Select the permission group or category. To view a sub-group, select the button. In the Access Rights box, select the rights to apply for the selected permissions group or subgroup. Select the Update button to save changes. Note: All rights that you have assigned at the permission group level are carried over to each sub-group and sub-category included in the selected Permission group. To assign limited rights, select a permission group. Select to clear all of the check boxes in the Access Rights box. Select the rights that should be granted universally to the entire permission group. Also, select the rights you want to limit. Do not select the rights that you do not want to grant to this group at all. Under the same permission group, select the sub-group or category for which you want to limit the rights. Select a practice to add a new group. From the main menu, do one of the following: Select Edit > New > Group Right-click the selected practice, then select New Group. The General tab for a new group appears on the right side of the window. In the Name field, enter the name of the new user group. If your facility requires a description, then enter a brief one for the group in the Description field. If you want to assign default NextGen® Enterprise PM User Preferences settings for all users in the group, you can select a general, location, and scheduling preferences master files. Note: If you make a selection in the PM User Prefs - Locations field and save the change, the settings of the preferences display on the Locations tab of User Maintenance for each user in the group. If you need different preferences for a user in the group, you can override the selections in these fields by making different preference selections on the user level Preferences tab.
