Set Up Document Types

Before you begin

Set up the document fields. For more information, go to Set Up Document Fields.

Document types can act as classifications that refer to the nature of documents or images, such as X-ray, medical record, and progress note.

  1. Open File Maintenance.
  2. In Master Files, select System > Document Management, and then select Document Types.
    The Document Types List window opens.
  3. Select the open menu `button, and then select New.
    The Document Type Information window opens.
  4. Enter the necessary details, and then select Open folder button.

  5. To add required fields to the document type, move the fields from the Available to the Included section, and then select OK.
    The Document Type Information window displays the selected fields.
  6. Select the field options to configure the fields within the Document Type, and then select OK.
Assign document types to security groups. You can also copy document type permissions from one security group to another.
