Tasks Performed for Care Guidelines at Each Encounter

You can perform the tasks for care guidelines for each encounter of a patient. Tasks performed in the Care Guidelines panel for every patient encounter include: Reviewing and updating the status of guide items at each encounter Placing orders for orderable items Reviewing and updating diagnostic studies performed previously In this section, the steps for tasks that are performed for care guidelines at every encounter are described in detail. If there are due items, the Care Guidelines link displays a badge with the number of items due. All guideline items for the patient appear in the Care Guidelines panel. Items with Status due are items that can be ordered, such as labs and diagnostic studies. Workflow Summary for Care Guidelines Grid View

You can review the workflow summary of care guidelines for a patient. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select the Care Guidelines link on any of the main template. The Care Guidelines Paged View template opens. In the Care Guidelines panel, select the Grid View link. The Care Guidelines grid view template opens. To activate one or more guidelines for the patient, do the following: You can activate a care guideline to track a condition, disease, and health maintenance for a patient. When a guideline is activated, it is ready for use. Note: You can remove the mistakenly activated guidelines in the same encounter. Do not remove an active guideline with data. To bring back a removed guideline item, re-apply the guideline for a patient. Select Add/Update in the Care Guidelines panel. The Activate Care Guidelines template opens. Care Guidelines Grid View

You can follow a disease or condition and health maintenance during a patient encounter on the Care Guidelines grid view template. The Care Guidelines grid view template displays only active guideline items that are due in a data grid in the Care Guidelines panel. Workflow on the Care Guidelines grid view template starts in the Care Guidelines panel. To use the care guidelines system with a patient, you have to activate a guideline. Then you can perform the tasks of reviewing and updating the status of individual guideline items in the Care Guidelines panel. Care Guidelines The activities include: Activate new or update current active care guidelines for the patient Document and update risk indicators for health maintenance Review, place orders, and update the status of guideline items Review and update diagnostic studies performed prior or elsewhere The Care Guidelines grid view template also provides access to additional information that providers may find helpful, such as screening

You can use the Care Guidelines Paged View template to perform tasks for every encounter with the patient. You can manage guideline items associated with chronic conditions or health maintenance workflow in the Care Guidelines panel on the Care Guidelines Paged View template. In the Care Guidelines panel, each item that is part of an active guideline whether it is due or not, appears in a paged format. You can view different pages of active guideline items in the navigation toolbar. care_guidelines_paged_view To use the care guidelines system with a patient, you first have to activate a guideline. Compare Care Guidelines Panel in Paged and Grid Views

You can compare Care Guidelines panel in paged and grid views. The Care Guidelines panel has a different appearance and enhanced functionality when it is on the Care Guidelines Paged View template from how it appears and functions on the original Care Guidelines grid view template. The following table describes the differences. Task Performed Care Guidelines Paged View Care Guidelines Grid View Active guideline items displayed.
