Care Guidelines Incomplete Tests

You can specify the vendor name and the language used by lab vendors to indicate unperformed test. To determine whether a lab test is completed, care guidelines relies on specific language used by lab vendors. If a test has not been performed, the vendor uses certain words to indicate that. After these words are defined by you, care guidelines do not consider results or comments containing them as completed. If you do not set up these values, care guidelines may mistakenly mark a test as complete. You must specify the vendor’s name, the language used to indicate an unperformed test, and where that language can be located (Result or Result Comments field). For Example, if a specimen is sent to lab corp for a Complete Blood Count (CBC) and a lipid profile, and the CBC cannot be performed due to insufficient specimen, you must determine the words as not done in the Result field to indicate the test is incomplete. Set Up Tests and Orders to Update Care Guidelines

You can set up tests and orders to update care guidelines for a patient. A care guideline status is updated to completed when all of the following conditions are met: The ordering code (or description) is added to the guideline's list of Interventions/Test Equivalent Codes/Descriptions. The completed order type for the patient matches with the guideline type that is set. For example, lab guidelines will only update from lab orders. The order has both a valid Completed Date or Received Date along with a Completed or Results Received status. Mapping can be used to set up tests and orders to update guidelines, simplifying workflow in the process. These mapping procedures can be used by the care guidelines that comes shipped with NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine 8.3.x, 8.4.x and later. Lab Completed Status Data Set

The Lab Completed Status data set enables you to configure the lab statuses that can be used as a final lab result. When lab results are sent to NextGen Healthcare from a Rosetta Lab Interface, a lab status is sent. The lab status may be the word “Final” or may not, depending on the Lab Vendor. This data set allows you to add additional statuses that should be considered a “final” lab result from these vendors. When entering new statuses, ensure that the Lab Name (vendor) is the same as what’s provided, and the Lab ID (Vendor ID) matches the Lab ID from File Maintenance. Configure Lab Statuses and Incomplete Tests

You can configure lab statuses as final and incomplete results by using the Lab Status/Incomplete Test Configuration template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK. The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens. Expand the Interventions/Test Equivalent Codes/Descriptions panel, and then in the File Maintenance Mappings section, select the Lab Status / Incomplete Test Configuration link. The Lab Status/Incomplete Test Configuration window opens. Note: To filter the configurations, you can select the Status, Incomplete Result, and Removed/Deleted records only options. Select Lab vendor from the list. Enter the details in Test status to be included. Add comments about the test result. To record the details, select Add. Configure Lab Completed Statuses

On the Data Sets Setup template, select Data Set and select Lab Completed Status. The existing data set items associated with the Lab Completed Status data set appear in the grid. Lab Completed Status data set Select Add. The Template Data Sets Setup – [New Record] template opens. Template Data Sets Setup If applicable, select Diagnosis description to search and select a diagnosis. The associated diagnosis code automatically populates. If applicable, select Provider and select a provider from Dbp Rendering Provider. Select Lab Name and select the lab vendor. The Lab ID field populates with the vendor ID associated with selected lab vendor. The Lab ID or the Vendor ID is configured in File Maintenance. In Status, enter a status that is considered as the final status when the final lab result is sent by the selected lab vendor. Select Save, and then select Close. Indicate that a Diagnostic Test was Completed

Before you begin You can document that the diagnostic test was performed and enter the findings or results on the Testing - OPH template. After you have documented the test results and interpretations on the Ophthalmology Diagnostic Tests panel, the status of the test is updated. Access the Testing - OPH template. On the Ordered Diagnostic Tests panel, select one of the following the options Show options to filter the grid. All Tests Obtained Selected test Highlight the row in the Orders grid that displays the diagnostic test you want to update. Details for the selected row display in the data fields below the grid. The selected Show option changes to Selected test. In the corresponding panel for the selected test, click Test Completed.
