On the
Service Code Mapping
system template, select a practice from the
Filter by
field above the grid.
Highlight a row in the grid to create a service code mapping based on the default code mapping packaged with the system.
The selected data populates in the corresponding fields above the grid.
Update the applicable fields with the appropriate values.
Click
Add
.
An alert on the
Service Code Mapping
system template opens when necessary to prevent duplicate entries of the
Payer
,
Visit type
, and
Provider Level
.
The newly created mapping appears in the grid.
To modify a grid entry, highlight it to populate the fields above with the data, make the changes and click
Update
.
To delete committed data, highlight the grid row and click the
Remove
button below the grid.

Map Behavioral Health Service Codes
On the Service Code Mapping system template, click the Practice field and select the desired practice name. Note: The values you establish here apply only to the selected practice. In the Payer field, select the payer configured in File Maintenance. In the Visit type field, click to select a value. Select a value from the optional Licensure field. Note: The Licensure picklist is configured on the Custom DB Picklist system template. For more information on how to modify the custom lists on this template, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Custom DB Picklists System Template for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Click the Service code or Service description field to select a service to be mapped with the selected practice for Behavioral Health billing. Add a New Service Code Mapping Using a Default Mapping
On the Service Code Mapping system template, select a practice from the Filter by field. The service code mappings associated with the selected practice appear in the grid. Highlight a row in the grid. The selected data populates in the corresponding fields above the grid. Update the fields in the Map Service Code section with the appropriate values. Click Add. Note: An alert on the Service Code Mapping system template helps prevent duplicate entries of the Payer, Visit type, and Provider Level. A newly created service code mapping appears in the grid. To modify a grid entry, highlight the entry to populate the fields above with the data, make the changes and click Update. To delete committed data, highlight the grid row and click Remove button. Service Code Mapping
The Service Code Mapping system template provides a custom solution where each Behavioral Health practice can map service codes to several parameters. Once these parameters are configured, a stored procedure is used in run time to assist the user in the process of determining the appropriate service code based on the information documented in the current encounter. The following parameters can be mapped to a service code: Practice Payer Visit type Licensure Provider Level Require E&M code Require additional code Time-based NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine is packaged with a default set of service code mappings. You can use these mappings or chose to create your own custom mappings for each practice. Service Code Mapping
The Service Code Mapping system template is used in conjunction with a stored procedure to calculate a service code based on practice, payer, visit type, licensure, and whether the charge is time-based. An alert is prompted if an E&M code or an additional code is required based on the code configuration completed on the Service Code Mapping template. The system template includes default code mapping and the ability to copy the default code mapping packaged with the latest version of NextGen® Adaptive Content Engineused at the practice. The template also enables users to copy configurations from one practice to another. You can create a client-specific default that can be used as a starting point for other practices without modifying the default data packaged with NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Create a New Service Code Mapping
On the Service Code Mapping system template, click the Practice field and select the desired Practice Name. The values you establish apply only to the selected practice. Click the Payer field and select the payer configured in NextGen File Maintenance. Enter the Visit type and Licensure. Note: The Licensure field is optional/informational. The Licensure list is configured in the Custom DBpicklist system template. Update Service Code Mappings
Open the BH Foundation Configuration template, and then expand the Service Code Mapping panel. To filter the list, enter the search criteria in the respective fields above the grid headers, and then select Filter. The mappings matching the search criteria appear in the grid. Select a row to modify. The mapping information appears in the respective fields. Change the required details, and then select Update. The updated mapping information appears in the grid.
