Service Code Mapping

The Service Code Mapping system template provides a custom solution where each Behavioral Health practice can map service codes to several parameters. Once these parameters are configured, a stored procedure is used in run time to assist the user in the process of determining the appropriate service code based on the information documented in the current encounter. The following parameters can be mapped to a service code: Practice Payer Visit type Licensure Provider Level Require E&M code Require additional code Time-based NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine is packaged with a default set of service code mappings. You can use these mappings or chose to create your own custom mappings for each practice. Map Behavioral Health Service Codes

On the Service Code Mapping system template, click the Practice field and select the desired practice name. Note: The values you establish here apply only to the selected practice. In the Payer field, select the payer configured in File Maintenance. In the Visit type field, click to select a value. Select a value from the optional Licensure field. Note: The Licensure picklist is configured on the Custom DB Picklist system template. For more information on how to modify the custom lists on this template, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Custom DB Picklists System Template for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Click the Service code or Service description field to select a service to be mapped with the selected practice for Behavioral Health billing. The system performs one or more of the following actions based on the information documented in the encounter and the code's configuration on the Service Code Mapping system template: Populates the Service description and Service code fields Displays an alert if an E&M code or any additional code is required Launches the Bh Coding Select template if multiple codes are returned Sends start/stop times to the procedure module for codes configured as a time based Once the charges are submitted to the Superbill module, the service code information is sent to NextGen® Enterprise PM. Load the Default Data Set for Service Code Mappings

NextGen Adaptive Content Engine is packaged with a default data set that contains multiple service code mappings for the Behavioral Health specialty. You must load these mappings to a specific practice to make them available for use and before you can edit or copy them to another practice. Caution: Completing the following steps will override any data in the grid on the Service Code Mapping template for the selected practice. Open the Service Code Mapping system template. In the Copy set to default practice field, select the practice to load the default mappings. Click Copy. Click Yes to the confirmation message which states that the data for this practice will be overwritten by the default set data. The default data set populates in the grid. Access the Service Code Mapping System Template

From the File menu, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window appears. In the Show section, select All to see a list of system templates. To access the Service Code Mapping template, do one of the following: Double-click Service Code Mapping. Select Service Code Mapping and then click OK. The Service Code Mapping template appears. Copy a Default Set from One Practice to Another

The Service Code Mapping system template includes default code mappings for the Behavioral Health specialty and enables you to copy the default code mappings packaged with NextGen® Enterprise to create new mappings. The system template also provides the ability to copy defaults from one practice to another. You can create a client-specific default that can be used as a starting point for other practices without modifying the default code mappings. On the Service Code Mapping template, click the Copy from field and select the practice you wish to replicate. Click OK. Click the to field and select the practice name. Click OK. The system enables the Copy button once a selection has been made. Click Copy. Click Yes to the confirmation message which states that the data for this practice will be overwritten.
