Service Code Mapping

The Service Code Mapping system template is used in conjunction with a stored procedure to calculate a service code based on practice, payer, visit type, licensure, and whether the charge is time-based. An alert is prompted if an E&M code or an additional code is required based on the code configuration completed on the Service Code Mapping template. The system template includes default code mapping and the ability to copy the default code mapping packaged with the latest version of NextGen® Adaptive Content Engineused at the practice. The template also enables users to copy configurations from one practice to another. You can create a client-specific default that can be used as a starting point for other practices without modifying the default data packaged with NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Determining the Correct Service Code Determining the Correct Service Code In run time, the stored procedure associated with the Service Code Mapping template runs when the Service performed by check box is selected in the Behavioral health billing section. The system performs one or more of the following actions based on the information documented in the encounter and the code's configuration on the Service Code Mapping system template: Populates the Service description and Service code fields Displays an alert if an E&M code or any additional code is required Launches the Bh Coding Select template if multiple codes are returned Sends start/stop times to the procedure module for codes configured as a time based Once the charges are submitted to the Superbill module, the service code information is sent to NextGen® Enterprise PM. Copy a Default Set from One Practice to Another

The Service Code Mapping system template includes default code mappings for the Behavioral Health specialty and enables you to copy the default code mappings packaged with NextGen® Enterprise to create new mappings. The system template also provides the ability to copy defaults from one practice to another. You can create a client-specific default that can be used as a starting point for other practices without modifying the default code mappings. On the Service Code Mapping template, click the Copy from field and select the practice you wish to replicate. Click OK. Click the to field and select the practice name. Click OK. The system enables the Copy button once a selection has been made. Click Copy. Click Yes to the confirmation message which states that the data for this practice will be overwritten. Load the Default Data Set for Service Code Mappings

NextGen Adaptive Content Engine is packaged with a default data set that contains multiple service code mappings for the Behavioral Health specialty. You must load these mappings to a specific practice to make them available for use and before you can edit or copy them to another practice. Caution: Completing the following steps will override any data in the grid on the Service Code Mapping template for the selected practice. Open the Service Code Mapping system template. In the Copy set to default practice field, select the practice to load the default mappings. Click Copy. Click Yes to the confirmation message which states that the data for this practice will be overwritten by the default set data. The default data set populates in the grid. Create a New Service Code Mapping

On the Service Code Mapping system template, click the Practice field and select the desired Practice Name. The values you establish apply only to the selected practice. Click the Payer field and select the payer configured in NextGen File Maintenance. Enter the Visit type and Licensure. Note: The Licensure field is optional/informational. The Licensure list is configured in the Custom DBpicklist system template. For more information on how to configure Licensure, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Custom DB Picklists System Template for NextGen Adaptive Content Engine. Click the Service code or Service description field and select a service to be mapped to the selected practice for billing. Note: The values in the Service Item Mstr picklist are configured in a Service Categories Master File called Behavioral Health.
