You can set up specific medications for a patient under care using the Care Guidelines Setup template.
You can configure a specific medication to trigger a care guideline by setting up the
Reason Group and
Medication fields. The other fields are optional.
Note:
- For medication, if you add more fields, the system filters the data to a greater specificity. The guideline is triggered when all of these values match.
- Only active medications trigger a guideline initially. If the medication is discontinued, the guideline exists until it is manually turned off on the Care Guidelines template.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- From File, select System \ Practice Template.
The Select Template window opens.
- On the Practice tab, select the All option.

Note: If you select a medication with strength and dose details, the system follows the guideline for the brand name and generic name of the drug with the same strength or dose unit of measure.
- In Dose, enter the dose per administration.
Note: Applicable only if Dose has a Dose Unit of Measure value. You can enter only numerical values. The maximum limit is 999.99.
