Configure Orders for Specific Medication Guidelines

You can configure an order for the created guideline to be triggered for the specific medication. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template.The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Care Guidelines Setup, and then select OK.The Care Guidelines Setup template opens. In the Intervention/Order Setup panel, select Medication for Reason type. In Condition/Reason, select the created guideline reason. In Intervention/Test type, select instructions. Enter an intervention or test name, and then select a standard interval for the guideline. Select Add. Select Save & Close.The guideline reason and order are saved, and the Care Guidelines Setup template closes. Open the Medication Specific Template

You can set up specific medications for a patient chart in the Medication Specific template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template.The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Set Up Specific Medications

You can set up specific medications for a patient under care using the Care Guidelines Setup template. You can configure a specific medication to trigger a care guideline by setting up the Reason Group and Medication fields. The other fields are optional. Note: For medication, if you add more fields, the system filters the data to a greater specificity. The guideline is triggered when all of these values match. Only active medications trigger a guideline initially. If the medication is discontinued, the guideline exists until it is manually turned off on the Care Guidelines template. Creating Guidelines for Specific Medications

You can create a guideline for a specific medication and set it to automatically apply to a patient's chart when the parameters are met. If you do not configure the guideline to automatically apply, the guideline can be applied manually by using the Add or Update option in the Care Guidelines Paged View template. To create a medication guideline, you can create a test patient before opening the Care Guidelines Setup template. Create a Guideline

You can create a guideline for a patient on the Care Guideline Setup template. Before you begin You must select the Auto-Apply checkbox to make the Gender, Start age, Stop age, and Diagnosis group fields available. Otherwise, you must manually apply the guideline to patients if you choose to follow it. This can be done during encounter workflow. A guideline with Auto-Apply selected is not applied to a patient when a diagnosis has the Inactive or Resolved status. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template.The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK. Modify an Existing Guideline

You can modify a guideline for a patient on the Care Guideline Setup template. Before you begin You must select the Auto-Apply checkbox to make the Birth sex, Start age, Stop age, and Diagnosis group fields available. Open NextGen® Office EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template.The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK.The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens. Expand the Define Guideline Reasons & Auto Application panel and select the guideline from the data grid.Details listed in the grid for the guideline fill in the fields. These values can be modified. Note: When you update a guideline, the current Guideline Condition/Reason does not change. Modify the birth sex, start age, stop age, and diagnosis group as necessary.
