Document a Lab Order

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open a patient's record, and then open an encounter. Open the Intake template, select the specialty as Family Practice and the visit type as Office Visit, and then select My Plan. The My Plan window opens. Select the Labs tab.The Lab Master template opens. Select an assessment in the Today's Assessments grid. Set Up Labs to Process in the Orders Module

You can configure order entry through the Orders module from the Labs tab. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Practice Configuration template. In the Orders/Plans section, on the Order Module line, select the Enable Order Module checkbox.In runtime, the Labs tab opens the Orders module instead of the Lab Master template. Documenting a Patient's Lab Order Details

You can place lab orders for the patient's assessments using the Lab Master template or the Orders console. You can place a lab order from the Lab Master template on the Labs tab for the test types such as chemistry, CSF labs, office labs, tumor markers, microbiology, hematology, OB labs, other tests, urine chemistry, therapeutic levels, serology, and pre-Cath labs. Instead of using the Lab Master template, you can configure the Labs tab to open the Orders console for processing labs. The Process and Submit Lab/Radiology Orders template shares all orders mapped in the Order Tests Master File in File Maintenance with the Orders module, including the order details and any mapped LOINC® or SNOMED® codes. The application also shares unmapped order(s) with the Orders module. The Process and Submit Lab/Radiology Orders template shares the Vendor, Billing Type, Quest/Labcorp PSC Hold, and Save to Module but Don't Send to Interface queue details with the Lab Master template to process the lab

Place an Order for Diagnostic Studies

You can place a diagnostic study order with Bypass Order Module Processing enabled. You can place a diagnostic study order from the Diagnostic Studies template. Note: If Bypass Order Module Processing is not in effect, the Lab/Radiology Order Processing link appears on the Diagnostic Studies template. After you place an order, you must select the Order Module Processing link to select the vendor and submit the order for processing. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Enter Studies in the Diagnostics Tab

The Today’s Assessments grid includes a list of diagnoses selected in the Assessment tab. The Diagnostic Studies template is part of a group of templates that use the last assessment or diagnosis selected on any of the templates in the group as the working assessment. The system defaults to the current working assessment. You can select another assessment, which becomes the new working assessment that carries forward to the other templates in the group. On the Diagnostic Studies template, select Add to open the Add or Update Assessment template and add any additional assessments.The application fills Vendor field automatically with the preferred vendor if it has been configured in the NextGen File Maintenance application. If required, select the Vendor field to select a different value from the resulting list.The application fills Billing Type field automatically based on the selected Vendor.
