Practice Configuration Template Settings

You can use the Practice Configuration template to configure certain settings to form the default options in the framework template set of various specialties. The template displays available settings in three columns. The first column shows the setting name, the second column provides a brief explanation of the setting, and the third column contains the options you can select or values you can enter for the setting. Patient's Lab Orders

You can place lab orders from the Labs tab using the Lab Master template or the Orders console. The Process and Submit Lab/Radiology Orders template shares information with the Lab Master template and the Orders console. You can place a lab order from the Lab Master template on the Labs tab for the following types of tests: chemistry, CSF labs, office labs, tumor markers, microbiology, hematology, OB labs, other tests, urine chemistries, therapeutic levels, serology, and pre-Cath labs. Instead of using the Lab Master template, you can configure the Labs tab to open to the Orders console for processing labs. The Process and Submit Lab/Radiology Orders template shares all orders that are mapped in the Order Tests Master File in File Maintenance with the Orders module, including the order details and any mapped LOINC® or SNOMED® codes. Documenting a Patient's Lab Order Details

You can place lab orders for the patient's assessments using the Lab Master template or the Orders console. You can place a lab order from the Lab Master template on the Labs tab for the test types such as chemistry, CSF labs, office labs, tumor markers, microbiology, hematology, OB labs, other tests, urine chemistry, therapeutic levels, serology, and pre-Cath labs. Instead of using the Lab Master template, you can configure the Labs tab to open the Orders console for processing labs. Configure Processed and Unprocessed Options for Lab and Diagnostic Orders

From the File menu, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. Click the Practice tab. In the Show section, click the All option. A list of practice level templates appears. Select Practice Configuration and click OK. The Practice Configuration practice template opens. Select the Bypass Order Module Processing check box. Set Up Labs to Process in the Orders Module

You can configure order entry through the Orders module from the Labs tab. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Practice Configuration template. In the Orders/Plans section, on the Order Module line, select the Enable Order Module checkbox.In runtime, the Labs tab opens the Orders module instead of the Lab Master template. Print Barcode Labels

You can print barcode labels for specific medications or all the medications of a practice on the Barcode Configuration system template. From the File menu, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. In the Show section, select All. Double-click Specialty Config Home, or select it and then select OK. The Specialty Config Home system template opens. In Specialty System Sidebar, select Barcode Configuration. The Barcode Configuration system template opens. Barcode Configuration Template In the Location and Sub-Location field, select the desired location and sub-location respectively. From the Format style of document section, select the desired format for barcode labels to be printed. From the Items to Display on the document section, select the options corresponding to information to be printed on the barcode labels.
