Modifying Charges

Charges that are not processed by Automatic Close or Manual Close can be modified if needed. The following fields can be modified on an unprocessed charge. Service Dates Service Item and Description Modifiers Quantity Price Tooth, Surface, and Quadrant Process Date Diagnoses Rendering Referring Additional Provider Place of Service Narrative Dunning Message Note: You can only modify the Dunning Message when security access rights for Custom Dunning Messages is enabled in the System Administrator. Notes Batch Description Location Charges that have been processed by Automatic Close or Manual Close can still be modified, if needed. Charge Price Override NextGen® Enterprise PM Enables users to override (change) the fee for a procedure when they enter charges regardless of the amount. Practice Preferences for Charge Entry

In Charge Entry practice preferences, you can set your preferences on the Charges tab. Field Description Prevent charge rendering physician modifications after practice closing Prevent users from changing a charge's rendering physician if the charge was created before the closing date. The charge creation date may not be the encounter date. A charge can be added after practice closing, and the rendering does not lock down until the practice closes again. You can add a rendering physician if no rendering physician is entered for the charge. Prevent charge referring physician modifications after practice closing Prevent users from changing the charge's referring provider on an encounter after practice closing. This setting affects only voidable charges. Note: You must also select Display referring providers Prevent charge additional provider modifications after practice closing To choose this setting, you must select Addl Provider. Enter Dental Charges

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM, and then select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Select the desired patient and encounter. Do one of the following: To add a charge, select New. To modify a charge, select the charge and then select Open. In the Svc Dates fields, enter the service date range for the charge. These fields default to the Billable Date, when you select it on the Encounter Maintenance window. Select Svc Item, and then enter the applicable dental service item. The Unit and Override fields default to the price from the SIM Library. The Extended field is calculated as (Quantity x Override = Extended) and displays the total price for the charge. Select Modifier, and then enter up to four modifiers for the charge. Select Quantity, and then enter the desired quantity. The Quantity field defaults to 1.
