Viewing Encounter Information

You can view encounter information on the Patient Information Bar on the Encounters tab in the chart. Encounter information includes the following: Enc. Insurance displays Self Pay or the primary insurance linked to the encounter. You can hover over Enc. Insurance to view primary, secondary and tertiary encounter-level insurances. Rendering displays the name of the rendering provider linked to the encounter. Guarantor displays the name of the guarantor (person or employer) linked to the encounter. Based on practice preferences, the following may also appear: Up to three selected field values from the patient, person, or practice_person_sliding_fee tables. The sliding fee schedule name is based on the priority in the window. Only one sliding fee schedule description can appear on the Patient Information Bar. If a field has a lengthy display label, 15 characters are shown followed by an ellipsis. You can hover over the label to see the full name. Links to the following features: Appointm

Managing the Patient Information Bar

You can view the Patient Information Bar in the maximized or minimized state. The Patient Information Bar appears in the maximized or expanded view by default, displaying all the configured patient information. Note: Only the top and bottom lines of the Patient Information Bar appear in the minimized view. Maximize Return to the expanded view Note: The last view you selected is retained and displayed the next time you log on. Refresh Refresh the Patient Information Bar. NextGen® Enterprise PM Patient Information Bar Descriptions

The following tables provide additional descriptions for the Patient Demographic Information and Alerts section of PM Patient Information Bar. Use this table when setting up the PM Patient Information Bar Practice Preferences. Patient Demographic Information You can select up to three types of demographic information to display on the Patient Information Bar. Select this check box... To display... Columns in the Lookup Results

The following table provides information about various columns on the People Lookup and Patient Lookup windows: Column Name Column Description Auto size all columns Automatically resizes all columns to fit the content in each column. Name The last name, first name, and middle name for each person or patient in the General subtab of the Demographics tab in the Patient Information window. Suffix Suffix for each person/patient in the General subtab of the Demographics tab in the Patient Information window. Patient Portal Displays Y or N indicating whether the person or patient is enrolled in the NextGen® PxP Portal. Note: This column is not applicable for NextGen® Optical Management. Viewing Patient Demographics Information

The Demographics tab in Patient Information is the default tab that appears on the patient chart displaying demographics, patient status and client-defined information for the patient. You can select Who/When button to view the Created By and Last Modified By information. The demographics information consists of gender identity, preferred pronoun, current gender, sexual orientation, veteran status, and pharmacy information. The fields that appear for demographic information depend on the selections made on the Enterprise Preferences Client Defined tab and/or the Practice Preferences of the Chart window. You can create the Patient Expired label on an expired patient's chart by selecting the Expired check box and entering the expired date on the Demographics tab in the Add Person Information or Modify Person Information window For more information on adding or modifying patient demographic information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Patient Demographics Guide

Demographic Information in a Person or Patient Profile

On the Demographics tab of the Person Information or Patient Information window, you can enter the following data: General Information - includes name, sexual profile, social security number, and birth date. Contact Information - includes phone numbers, email address, and preferred contact methods. Demographic Information - includes marital status, student status, preferred language, religious information, and dental and primary provider. You can also enroll the patient in the Enterprise Chart feature. Insurance Information - includes insurers, authorizations, referrals, and eligibility inquiries. The optional and required fields that display on this window are determined by your system administrator's selections in Enterprise and Chart Practice Preferences. All required fields display in red text.
