Creating a Case
Because NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM share the same database, Case information captured in NextGen® Enterprise PM is available in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. The same information should appear in both applications when creating, editing, and viewing Cases. If you are using a different practice management system, all of the relevant Case information is populated in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR through an interface.
The information added or modified at the Case level is inherited and available at the Encounter level. Case details are associated with modular data including medications, allergies, problems, procedures, and labs. For example, a patient may have been prescribed pain medication for a back injury that occurred at work. The patient may also be taking other medications that have nothing to do with their back injury, such as birth control, heartburn, allergy-treating, or other unrelated medications. Each medication is listed with the Case number and description making it easy to identify each row of data with its origin of entry.
