Practice Preferences for Patient-Related Notifications

Changes made to notification preferences apply only to new patient/person records. Fields on existing records are not changed. All notifications that are selected prior to upgrading to the current release will be selected after the upgrade. The table provides the various preferences available to set up notifications for patients for your practice. Description Default Notification Order Use the arrows to move the notification types to your practice’s default settings. Note: When you change the notification order, the new order applies only for new patient/person records. Notifications Used in this Practice Select the notifications methods used in your practice. Display Notifications in Person Demographics Select this option to display the Notifications field on the Demographics tab in the Patient/Person Information window. Patient Notifications Practice Preferences Descriptions

The following table provides descriptions to the fields located in the Patient Notifications Practice Preferences. Notification Type Description Email Patient can receive notifications from the practice via email sent to the following email address. Phone Call Patient can receive notifications from the practice by a phone call sent to the following number. Portal Patient can receive notifications from the practice through NextGen® PxP Portal. If the patient is enrolled in Patient Portal, the system will automatically select Portal as the Notification preference, if not previously selected. If NextGen® PxP Portal is not set up, the Portal check box is grayed out. SMS (Text) Patient can receive notifications from the practice by text message sent to the cell phone number. Voice Reminders Patient can receive voice reminder notifications from the practice sent to the preferred contact number. NextGen EDI Messaging Practice Preferences

After entering your logon information, you can use this tab to identify the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) notification preferences for your practice. All the preferences listed in the Default Method list display on the Patient Information window of the Demographics tab and EDI Messaging window. The link on the Patient Information > Demographics tab. At least one Notification Messaging reminder method needs to be selected for the link to appear on the Patient Information on the Demographics tab. On the Patient Information of the Demographics tab, when you select the link, the EDI Messaging window appears. You can select the patient's preferred method of contact for EDI reminders on this window. To open this window, select Admin > Preferences > NextGen EDI Services > NextGen EDI Messaging tab. Set up Patient Selection Preferences

You can set up Patient Selection preferences for displaying patient information in the Patient Lookup window. To specify which patients to display in the Patient Lookup window, select one of the following from the View By list: Select All. All of the patients in the system. Referred By. Only patients referred by a particular physician. Provider. Only patients assigned to a particular provider. Provider Specialty. Only patients of a provider with a pre-selected specialty. By Appointment. Only patients with appointment on today's date. By Provider Appointment.
