NextGen EDI Messaging Practice Preferences

After entering your logon information, you can use this tab to identify the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) notification preferences for your practice. All the preferences listed in the Default Method list display on the Patient Information window of the Demographics tab and EDI Messaging window.

The link on the Patient Information > Demographics tab.

At least one Notification Messaging reminder method needs to be selected for the link to appear on the Patient Information on the Demographics tab.

On the Patient Information of the Demographics tab, when you select the link, the EDI Messaging window appears. You can select the patient's preferred method of contact for EDI reminders on this window.

To open this window, select Admin > Preferences > NextGen EDI Services > NextGen EDI Messaging tab.

Description

Default Notification Order

Use this list to set the preferred contact order on the Patient Information window, on the Demographics tab when the EDI Notification option button is selected.

To change the order in which the notifications display, select the notification and do one of the following:

Select to move the selected notification type up.
Select to move the selected notification type down.
Select to move the selected notification type to the top of the list.
Select to move the selected notification type to the bottom of the list.

Notifications Preferences

Select the Notification Preferences that you want your practice to use. These options will display on the Patient Information window, on the Demographics tab when the EDI Notification option button is selected. In the Contact Method list do the following:

Email - select to use email for notifications.	Select Email

Display EDI Notifications in Person Demographics

Select this check box to display the EDI Notification option on the Update Patient Information window > Demographics tab.

Show Reminders Tab on Appointment

Select this check box

To display a Reminders tab on the Add/Edit Appointment window in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The tab displays the Date/Time, Type, Method and Results information for each appointment reminder sent by NextGen EDI to the patient.
To display the EDI tooltip items while configuring in Admin > Preferences > User > Scheduling > Tooltip.

Appointment Reminders

To send appointment reminders to patients, select one or more of the following reminder methods. After you make a selection, the reminder method displays in the Defaults Method list for appointment reminders.

Note: At least one message type needs to be selected for the EDI hyperlink to display on the Patient Information > Demographics tab.

Balance Reminders

To send balance reminders to patients, select one or more of the following reminder methods. After you make a selection, the reminder method displays in the Defaults Method list for balance reminders.

To send recall plans to patients, select one or more of the following reminder methods. After you make a selection, the reminder method displays in the Defaults Method list for recall plans.

Default Method

Select one or more of the reminder methods for each reminder type. The selected messaging types will display on the Patient Information window of the Demographics tab in the EDI Messaging window in the following fields:
