Add Patient Preferences for EDI Messaging

The EDI Messaging window is only available to practices that have an EDI license. The options in the reminders fields are determined by your system administrator. Use this window to identify how the patient wants to receive reminders. NextGen EDI services uses the NextGen EDI Console to create and send the reminders to the patient.

  1. Open the Add/Modify Person/Patient Information window for the applicable person/patient.
  2. Select the hyperlink.
    The EDI Messaging window opens.

  3. On the EDI Messaging window do the following and then select OK.
    1. In the Appointment Reminders field, select one or more of the following:
      • Opt Out
      • Email
      • SMS (Text)
      • Voice Reminders
    2. In the Balance Reminders field, select one or more of the following:
      • Opt Out
      • Email
      • SMS (Text)
      • Voice Reminders
    3. In the Recall Plans field, select one or more of the following:
      • Opt Out
      • Email
      • SMS (Text)
      • Voice Reminders
  4. Select the EDI Notification option button.
  5. If the patient specified EDI messaging by any of the following methods, enter the preferred email address or phone number.
    • Email - enter an Email address for the patient.
    • SMS (Text) - enter a cell phone number for the patient.
    • Voice Reminders - enter a phone number for the patient's voice reminders.
