Preferred Contact and Notification Icons
The fields that display on the Notifications list depend on the Notification Preferences and Contact Methods selected on the Practice Preferences Patient Notifications window. The icons that display in the Contact Information section of the Add/Modify Person Information window indicate how the practice can notify a patient. Patients can be notified through the Patient Portal. There is no icon for Patient Portal notification.
When you select the Pat Notification option and set the patient preferences in the Notifications field, the relevant icons appear in the Contact Information section.
When you select the EDI Notification option and set the preferences on the EDI Messaging window, the appropriate icons appear in the Contact Information section.
The following table describes the icons for the various notification options.

The email address is used to send email notifications if the patient has opted to receive them. | |
The phone number is used to send notifications through phone call if the patient has opted to receive them. | |
The phone number is used to send text notifications if the patient has opted to receive them. | |
The phone number is used to send voice reminder notifications if the patient has opted to receive them. |
- Opt out: Indicates that the patient does not wish to receive any notifications. When Opt Out is selected, the other notification methods are not available.
- Email: Indicates that the patient wants to receive notifications by email.
- Phone Call: Indicates that the patient wants to receive notifications by phone call.
- Portal: Indicates that the patient wants to receive notifications through the NextGen® PxP Portal.
- SMS(Text): Indicates that the patient wants to receive notifications by text message.
- Voice Reminders: Indicates that the patient wants to receive notifications by voice reminder system.
The icons that appear correspond to the patient's preferences selected in the Notifications field.
