Notifications Type	Description
Email	The email address is used to send email notifications if the patient has opted to receive them.
Phone Call	The phone number is used to send notifications through phone call if the patient has opted to receive them.
SMS (Text)	The phone number is used to send text notifications if the patient has opted to receive them.
Voice	The phone number is used to send voice reminder notifications if the patient has opted to receive them.

Add Contact Information

This information consists of the patient or person's phone numbers, email address, and preferred contact methods. You can enable a significant event when changes occur to any of the contact information. When a user accesses a record with contact information, you can enable a system alert. Open the Demographics tab of the Add Person Information or Add Patient Information window. To display an alert when the contact information is accessed, select the Generate System Alert check box. To enter an international phone number and zip code, select the International link in blue text. The International Contact Information window opens. Enter the international numbers for the Home phone, Work phone, and zip code. Select OK. Enter the applicable phone numbers and email address for the patient. The field under the phone number fields and email field are for comments. Note: Select the N/A check box to disable data entry in a phone number or email field. Preferred Contact and Notification Icons Preferred Contact and Notification Icons The fields that display on the Notifications list depend on the Notification Preferences and Contact Methods selected on the Practice Preferences Patient Notifications window. The icons that display in the Contact Information section of the Add/Modify Person Information window indicate how the practice can notify a patient. Patients can be notified through the Patient Portal. There is no icon for Patient Portal notification. When you select the Pat Notification option and set the patient preferences in the Notifications field, the relevant icons appear in the Contact Information section. When you select the EDI Notification option and set the preferences on the EDI Messaging window, the appropriate icons appear in the Contact Information section. Patient Notifications Practice Preferences Descriptions

The following table provides descriptions to the fields located in the Patient Notifications Practice Preferences. Notification Type Description Email Patient can receive notifications from the practice via email sent to the following email address. Phone Call Patient can receive notifications from the practice by a phone call sent to the following number. Portal Patient can receive notifications from the practice through NextGen® PxP Portal. If the patient is enrolled in Patient Portal, the system will automatically select Portal as the Notification preference, if not previously selected. If NextGen® PxP Portal is not set up, the Portal check box is grayed out. SMS (Text) Patient can receive notifications from the practice by text message sent to the cell phone number. Voice Reminders Patient can receive voice reminder notifications from the practice sent to the preferred contact number. The EDI Messaging window is only available to practices that have an EDI license. The options in the reminders fields are determined by your system administrator. Use this window to identify how the patient wants to receive reminders. NextGen EDI services uses the NextGen EDI Console to create and send the reminders to the patient. Open the Add/Modify Person/Patient Information window for the applicable person/patient. Select the hyperlink. The EDI Messaging window opens. On the EDI Messaging window do the following and then select OK. NextGen EDI Messaging Practice Preferences

After entering your logon information, you can use this tab to identify the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) notification preferences for your practice. All the preferences listed in the Default Method list display on the Patient Information window of the Demographics tab and EDI Messaging window. The link on the Patient Information > Demographics tab. At least one Notification Messaging reminder method needs to be selected for the link to appear on the Patient Information on the Demographics tab. On the Patient Information of the Demographics tab, when you select the link, the EDI Messaging window appears. You can select the patient's preferred method of contact for EDI reminders on this window. To open this window, select Admin > Preferences > NextGen EDI Services > NextGen EDI Messaging tab.
