Practice Preferences for Patient-Related Notifications

	Description
Default Notification Order	Use the arrows to move the notification types to your practice’s default settings. Note: When you change the notification order, the new order applies only for new patient/person records.
Notifications Used in this Practice	Select the notifications methods used in your practice.
Display Notifications in Person Demographics	Select this option to display the Notifications field on the Demographics tab in the Patient/Person Information window. Select Require Notifications in Person Demographics to make the notification field mandatory and select Default selected Notifications in Person Demographics to display the selection notifications as default value in the notifications field.
Make Notifications in Person Demographics Practice specific	Select this option to make notification preferences specific to your practice. Every practice in your organization can identify how they want to notify a patient. CAUTION: This selection is permanent and cannot be changed.

Patient Notifications Practice Preferences

The Patient Notifications practice preferences enables you to setup the type of communication methods used for contacting a patient within your practice. The notification preferences selected on this window, will display on the Demographics tab of the Patient/Person Information window and on various reports. You can change the order of the notification types, select the notification preferences and contact methods, display the Notification field in demographics, make the Notification field required, and automatically select the notification preferences in the Notification field. You can make these notifications specific to a single practice. After you select the check box to make the notifications practice specific, it cannot be reversed. This is a permanent selection. Note: Changes made to notification preferences only apply to new Patient/Person records. Fields on existing records will not be changed. Patient Notifications Practice Preferences Descriptions

The following table provides descriptions to the fields located in the Patient Notifications Practice Preferences. Notification Type Description Email Patient can receive notifications from the practice via email sent to the following email address. Phone Call Patient can receive notifications from the practice by a phone call sent to the following number. Portal Patient can receive notifications from the practice through NextGen® PxP Portal. If the patient is enrolled in Patient Portal, the system will automatically select Portal as the Notification preference, if not previously selected. If NextGen® PxP Portal is not set up, the Portal check box is grayed out. SMS (Text) Patient can receive notifications from the practice by text message sent to the cell phone number. Voice Reminders Patient can receive voice reminder notifications from the practice sent to the preferred contact number. NextGen EDI Messaging Practice Preferences

After entering your logon information, you can use this tab to identify the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) notification preferences for your practice. All the preferences listed in the Default Method list display on the Patient Information window of the Demographics tab and EDI Messaging window. The link on the Patient Information > Demographics tab. At least one Notification Messaging reminder method needs to be selected for the link to appear on the Patient Information on the Demographics tab. On the Patient Information of the Demographics tab, when you select the link, the EDI Messaging window appears. You can select the patient's preferred method of contact for EDI reminders on this window. To open this window, select Admin > Preferences > NextGen EDI Services > NextGen EDI Messaging tab. Managing Demographic Information Managing Demographic Information On the Demographics tab, you can enter general information for a person or patient, such as address, demographics, contact phone numbers, contact, insurance, and notification methods for the patient. If your practice is licensed for EDI, the link appears on this window. When you select the link, the EDI Messaging window opens where you can view the patient's notification preferences for balance reminders, appointment reminders, and recall plans.
