Scheduling Operation

Subgroup Used in Description Appointment Book NextGen® Enterprise PM Enables users to access the Appointment Book, but not to schedule appointments. Appointment Book Multi-view NextGen® Enterprise PM Enables users to access the Multi-view tab within the Appointment Book. To access the Appointment Book, users must have access to this also. Appointment Search NextGen® Enterprise PM Enables users to access the Appt List toolbar button to search for scheduled appointments and to print batch fee tickets. Appointment Search Engine Updates NextGen® Enterprise PM Enables users to access the Scheduling Update program immediately after making modifications within Scheduling Administration. Note: You must also select the Prompt to defer scheduling admin changes until automated nightly processoption in Appointment Scheduling Practice Preferences. Enable Interval Overrides for the Practice

The Appointment Scheduling Practice Preferences enable you to set options and default information for the appointment book for your practice and all related service locations. You can also enable interval overrides for the practice. CAUTION: If the interval overrides is enabled and you later want to disable it, changing the resource's time interval deletes all scheduling data currently in place for the resource. This includes: member classes, appointment conflict checking data, appointment search ahead data, appointment wait lists, default resource assignments, event duration overrides, template assignments, and template exceptions. Select the Admin > Preferences > Practice. Select Appt Scheduling in the Preferences List. The Appt Scheduling Practice Preferences opens. Select the Allow interval overrides check box to enable time interval overrides at the resource, template, and event levels. Note: This check box overrides the practice level default interval, which is set in the Default

Enable Group Scheduling

To utilize the patient groups, group appointments, and group encounters functionality in NextGen® Enterprise PM, an option must be enabled in Practice Preferences. Access NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the Admin menu, select Preferences, and then Practice. The Practice Preferences window opens. From the Preference List, select Appt Scheduling. Select the Enable Group Scheduling check box. Appointment Scheduling Preferences

Appointment Scheduling Preferences control how specific functions and tasks work in the Appointment Book in NextGen® Enterprise PM. While some settings are strictly for customizing the display, others affect the application behavior. You must complete these settings before opening the Appointment Book for the first time. In File Maintenance, scheduling preferences can be defined in the Default User Prefs - Scheduling master file, and then assigned to groups of users or individual users in System Administrator. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, you can modify your own scheduling preferences in Admin > Preferences > User > Scheduling. Your settings override any default settings that were assigned to you in System Administrator. Hide Time Slots to the Right of the Scheduler Book

When the time slots are hidden, the Scheduler Book has the space to display one additional resource column. Open Practice Preferences, and then select the Appt Scheduling preferences. Under View Options, select Disable right time legend check box. Note: When users open the Scheduler Book in NextGen® Enterprise PM, the time slots on the right side do not display. Time Interval Overrides

If you need to schedule resources at different time intervals, you can set different time increments for your resources, templates, and events. For example, the majority of doctors at a practice might require 15-minute time intervals to perform their standard procedures, but two doctors at the same practice require 10-minute time intervals for their scheduling preferences because their specialties differ from the majority. The time in the Default Time Interval field on the Appt Scheduling practice preferences is the default interval used in all scheduling fields that deal with time increments, such as template and resource time intervals and event durations. You can override the time interval if you select the Allow interval overrides check box. The Allow interval overrides check box affects many areas of NextGen® Enterprise PM, Scheduling Administration, and File Maintenance.
