If you need to schedule resources at different time intervals, you can set different time increments for your resources, templates, and events. For example, the majority of doctors at a practice might require 15-minute time intervals to perform their standard procedures, but two doctors at the same practice require 10-minute time intervals for their scheduling preferences because their specialties differ from the majority.
The time in the
Default Time Interval field on the
Appt Scheduling practice preferences is the default interval used in all scheduling fields that deal with time increments, such as template and resource time intervals and event durations. You can override the time interval if you select the
Allow interval overrides check box. The
Allow interval overrides check box affects many areas of
NextGen® Enterprise PM, Scheduling Administration, and File Maintenance. You must consider all the changes before enabling
Allow interval overrides.
Note: When you select Disable appointment start time/duration conflict for past appts check box in Practice Preferences without first selecting the Allow interval overrides preference checkbox, and when you change the Default Time Interval from 15 mins to 10 mins then you will not get the Appointment Start/Time Duration conflict error message when you change the Default Time Interval from 15 mins to 10 mins. The past appointments will appear in read-only mode, and you cannot change the original appointment time.
If the check box is selected and you want to clear it to prevent interval overrides, you must make sure that all intervals set for events, event chains, resources, and templates are increments of the practice default time interval. For example, if the default interval is 10 minutes, then all other intervals must be increments of 10 such as 10, 20, 30, and so on.
