State of Massachusetts Requirement for Schedule II Controlled Substances

By law, the state of Massachusetts requires all print and electronic prescriptions for Schedule II opioid medications to include specific notation that indicates the patient’s option to request partial fill. If you prescribe medications in the state of Massachusetts, the notation "Partial fill upon patient request" appends to the beginning of any text already in the Non-Clinical Notes to Pharmacy field. Because the notation cannot be edited, the text of the notation does not appear in the medication details section. However, the notation does appear in the Non-Clinical Notes to Pharmacy column of the Send Prescription window . Due to the character limit for non-clinical notes, the Alerts box displays a message when you exceed the notes character limit.
