Manage Medication Defaults Field Descriptions
You can use the following table when adding or modifying medications.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Brand Name | Displays the brand name of the medication. |
Generic Name | Displays the generic name of the medication. |
Form | Displays the form in which the medication is administered. |
DEA Class | Displays the Drug Enforcement Agency Class that indicates the degree of potential abuse and level of Federal control over the medication. |
View Associated NDC Identifiers | Displays the National Drug Codes for the medication. The NDC ID is a unique identifier for a medication assigned by the NDC. |
Do not allow eRx | If the state does not allow electronic prescriptions for this medication, select this check box to prevent users from doing so. |
Do not allow faxing | If the state does not allow faxed prescriptions for this medication, select this check box to prevent users from doing so. |
State DEA Class | By default, this field automatically displays the same class selected in the DEA Class field. If necessary, select a different DEA class according to state DEA regulations. You can select a class equal to or lower than the one selected in the DEA Class field. |
Quantity/ Refills | Set the default values for the Quantity and number of Refills. |
NADEAN Required | To be compliant with the DATA 2000 statute, select this check box to indicate that the medication requires a provider’s Narcotics Addiction DEA Number (NADEAN) or X DEAN number before it can be prescribed for the treatment of opioid dependence. Dispense as Written | Specify whether the generic brand equivalent is permitted for the medication. |
