Add User-Defined Medications Field Descriptions

Field	Description
Brand Name	Enter the brand name of the medication.
Generic Name	Enter the generic name of the medication.
Form	Select the form in which the medication is administered.
DEA Class	Select the Drug Enforcement Agency Class that indicates the degree of potential abuse and level of Federal control over the medication.
Strength	Enter the medication strength.
Route	Select the method in which the medication is administered.
Assigned UDM ID
Quantity/ Refills	Set the default values for the quantity and number of refills.
Generic OK	Specify whether the generic brand equivalent is permitted for the medication.
Default SIG	Select List Codes or List Description to determine how you want the medication directions to list in the drop-down field below. Then, select the drop-down button to select a specific SIG Code for the medication. Note: If you want to delete an existing SIG from the medication, select the text in the field, then select DELETE on your keyboard.
Generic Source	Select the source for the generic medications.
Status	Select Prescription Only or Over the Counter.
Do not allow faxing	If the state does not allow faxed prescriptions for this medication, select this check box to prevent users from doing so.
State DEA Class	By default, this field automatically displays the same class selected in the DEA Class field. If necessary, select a different DEA class according to state DEA regulations. You can select a class equal to or lower than the one selected in the DEA Class field.

Add User-Defined Medications

You can add additional medications to the list of company-specific and provider-specific medications. You can add a user-defined medication only if it does not already exist in your database. CAUTION: If you add a user-defined medication, you cannot delete it. To add a user-defined medication, do the following: From the Master Files - System list, select Medication Tasks. The Medications Task window opens. Under Medications Tasks, select Add User-Defined Medication. The Add User-Defined Medications window opens. Enter information for the medication. Select Save. Add User-Defined Medications from the Medications Module

You cannot delete a user-defined medication. The Add UDM button is available only if the Allow Entry of User Defined Medication universal preference is set to True. Open the Medication Search window. Medication Search Select the search type from the Search list. Enter a full or partial name of the medication in the Find field. If the medication does not exist in your database, select Add UDM. The Add User Defined Medication window opens. The Brand Name and Generic Name fields are required. Manage Medication Defaults Field Descriptions

You can use the following table when adding or modifying medications. Field Description Brand Name Displays the brand name of the medication. Generic Name Displays the generic name of the medication. Form Displays the form in which the medication is administered. DEA Class Displays the Drug Enforcement Agency Class that indicates the degree of potential abuse and level of Federal control over the medication. Select Medication from the Report Filter Settings List. Report Filter Select to prompt the Medication Search window. Medication Search Select the type of search: DEA Class, Class or Name. Enter the search criteria. Select whether to include Generics and/or Retired medications. Clear the Active Medication check box if you wish to include all available medications. Select Search. Select the desired medications. Select OK. The medications display in Medication Search pane on the Medications window. Report Filter Select whether to Include or Exclude displayed medications. Select whether to display only the patients Who Have Never Had or Who Have Ever Had before or after a specific date or between a specific date range or Who Have Not Had Since a specific date. Enter Required Medication Information

You must enter the required medication information after selecting a medication. The required medication information depends on the settings in System Administrator. The fields that are enabled in the universal preference for your practice are highlighted in red in the Medications module. Contact your System Administrator regarding specific requirements for your medical facility. Search for and select a medication. Add a SIG. Do one of the following: In the Problem section, select Add. Select Patient Conditions View. The Patient Condition panel opens. Medication Fields to Configure a Medication

This table describes how to use the medication fields that appear to configure medication procedure orders. Field Description Medication Select a medication from the list. The associated National Drug Code (NDC) ID appears in the NDC ID field. If available, the medication dosage appears in the Sig, Dose, and Units fields. Sig Enter the Sig values. Note: : If you enter values in the Sig field, any pre-existing values in the Dose, Units, Route, and Site fields clear.
