Validate a Person/Patient Address - Corrected Address Found

This is the process flow for when the USPS database cannot locate the address entered for the person/patient. When the message is returned the USPS give the user the option to use the corrected address suggested by the USPS. Both the user and the practice must be setup for real-time address validation before performing this procedure. To enter the patient's address, select one of the following options: Billing - Enter the address used by the practice to send statements, claim information, and any additional correspondence between the practice and the patient. Secondary - Enter an additional address for the patient. For example, a case worker's address or second home. Enter the street address of the patient in the following fields: Street 1 (required) - Enter the street address for the patient. Street 2 - Enter additional mailing information. Real-time Address Validation for Person/Patient Address

Before real-time address validation can occur, both the practice and the user must be set up for real-time address validation. Refer to the Real-Time Address Validation section for information on how to setup a practice and a user for real-time address validation. After the address is entered and the user selects OK to save the information, the address fields are automatically sent to the United States Postal Service (USPS) address validation API. The address fields are compared to the address fields in the USPS API and responds with one of several messages. The address fields are address 1, address 2, city, state, and zip. The name of the patient/person is not sent to the USPS API. The USPS address validation API responds with one of several messages stating: Valid address Address cannot be found. Real-time address validation occurs after you enter an address for a Location and select OK to save the data. This process applies to addresses entered on the Practice tab and the Location Defaults tab of the Locations List window. After you selectOKthe address is automatically sent to the USPS address validation API and compared to the addresses in the USPS database. The address fields that are sent for validation are address 1, address 2, city, state, and zip. The name of the entity is not sent.
