The System Administrator module enables specific system information options that apply to the entire system. All of the System Info options are disabled by default. These options include:

  - Store Patient Files as BLOBs – This option stores all patient files as BLOBs (Binary Large Objects) in your database. By default, all patient files are stored as flat files on the hard disk. For information about using BLOBs, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Signature Blobulizer Utility Guide for NextGen Ambulatory EHR .

Note: If you enable this option, you cannot disable it at a later time.

  - Enable Provider Approval Queue – This option enables you to turn on the use of the Provider Approval Queue at run-time.

  - Enable Secure Lookup – This option makes the secure lookup feature available if your system has been redefined as a multiple MPI (Master Patient Index) system. The secure Birth Date and L4DSSN fields display on the Lookup windows after you enable secure lookup.

Note: The Enable Secure Lookup option is not active if your system is a single MPI (Master Patient Index) system because the secure lookup feature is always available. For more information about MPI definitions, refer to the "NextGen 5.x System Design and Security" white paper.

  - Enable Timezone Functionality

  - Enable CCHIT – This option enables you to turn on the Review and Edit Patient Modes in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Refer to the Patient Demographics Guide for NextGen Enterprise for more information about Review and Edit Patient Modes.

Caution: NextGen Healthcare recommends that initially you enable CCHIT only in your test environment because it results in a significant change to the daily work flow.

  - Enable CCOW Context Management

  - To access the System Info options, from the System Administrator menu, select View > System Info.

The NextGen System Info window appears.
