Set Up BLOB

By default, all patient files are stored as flat files on the hard disk. You can change this setting so that all patient files are stored as BLOBs (Binary Large Objects) in the database. Note: If you enable this option, you cannot disable it at a later time. For information about using BLOBs, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Signature Blobulizer Utility Guide for NextGen Ambulatory EHR . To store all patient files as BLOBs, select the View menu > System Info. The NextGen System Info window appears. Select the Store Patient Files As BLOBs check box. Select OK. CPOE Configuration Requirements

Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) is available on NextGen® Enterprise EHR from version 5.9.2020.1 onwards. Provider Approval Queue

To use the PAQ, you must enable it first and set up the provider assignment and relationship, required signoff items, and operations rights in the System Administrator application. As a provider or delegate, you can access the PAQ from the Workflow module. Note: A patient Inclusion or Exclusion List may restrict your access to PAQ items. If you are a workflow delegate for another user or provider, you may not be able to access the same PAQ items as that person. If you do not have access to a patient, the Restricted message appears under the Patient and Description columns. NextGen Document Storage

You can store patient chart items (such as documents, images, notes) in your NextGen environment in the following ways: In the local document path set up in Universal Preferences in the System Administrator module. In multiple storage locations for patient chart items NextGen® Enterprise EHR offers the ability to store patient chart items in separate directories that are automatically separated by date. Note: If you enable multiple storage locations for patient chart items, it automatically overrides the directory setting for the item type specified in Universal Preferences. Enable Secure Lookup Feature

When the secure lookup feature is enabled, users can perform secure lookups by entering a person's birth date or Social Security number. A search that uses the L4DSSN or secure Birth Date field shows results from within the current MPI at the system level. If the NextGen application is set for single MPI, secure lookups are already enabled by default. If the application is set for multiple MPI, you must enable the feature. Enabling the feature can affect both generic and secure searches. For example: The access to person demographics is limited to just the practice level for generic lookups (regardless of the MPI definition). When the MPI is defined at the enterprise level, enabling the secure lookup features limits the result sets of generic lookups (non-secure lookups) to just the demographics belonging to the practice that the user is logged in to. By establishing and assigning practices to associations, the associated practices' demographic records are still included regardless of
